Nausea (lat., seasickness, disgust) â€“ Nenia (greek/lat., folksong, elegy, magical song): Two similar sounding terms, which offer, based on their ambiguity, lots of space to musical connotations. These subtitles of the two movements refer to a background idea of the piece â€“ to bring musical gestures of anger on the one, mourning and desperation on the other hand together as close as possible. In both cases there are drudgingly dragged blocks of sound, circulating crumbles of motives, melodic fragments sometimes even reduced to single notesâ€¦. Nevertheless, in the end we can still hear an expanded relict of a drifty chant. Benjamin Schweitzer.

Here is a straight-forward duet arrangement (for CELLO solo with PIANO accompaniment) of the famous Christmas tune Up On the Housetop. The CELLO plays the melody for the first verse and then for the second verse, the PIANO plays the melody while the CELLO adds broken-chord harmony. Â

All notes for the CELLO are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. The PIANO accompaniment is written for an intermediate player. This fun-to-learn arrangement is a welcome addition to the repertoire for beginning cello students and suitable for recitals or just some family fun around the piano during the holiday season. Â
