Cello and piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6732 Composed by Rodion Shchedrin. This edition: Sheet music. Cello Library. Downloadable. Duration 9 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6732. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6732). Deep Slavic emotions and gripping virtuosity - that's what characterizes many compositions by Rodion Shchedrin. Even if he has been a cosmopolitan for a long time, the Moscow-born composer nevertheless remains an originally Russian composer whose attachment to Russian music folklore and poetry has never been broken off. This tradition also shows in 'Belcanto', which was commissioned by the renowned Verbier Festival and premiered by the dedicatee Mischa Maisky, together with the composer on the piano. The cello part mainly maintains a cantabile character, while the piano accompanies and comments the vocal part with varied transparent sounds and figures.

Large Ensemble Cello,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.889878 Composed by Gary Friedman. Contemporary,Jewish,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 66 pages. Gary Friedman #11999. Published by Gary Friedman (A0.889878). The original version for cello and piano was my first formal composition when I started composing in 1998. When my brother, Ralph, heard it, he cried and said that he wished that my parents could have heard it, too. The form and harmonies of this piece are mostly traditional, but there are a few surprises. There is a cantorial cello cadenza. A trumpet and tuba are added to the usual chamber orchestra with piano, just to play an Oh My Darling Clementine counter-melody in one variation but flute and bassoon have cues and can do this nicely. The recording of the beautifully expressive performance by Ken Hoppe and the College of Marin Symphony conducted by Tara Flandreau (who edited the string parts) is of such poor sound quality that I have uploaded the computer playback as the sound clip, which is of course quite mechanical sounding. However, if you would like to hear the live performance the YouTube link is ?v=6RHrLVqTyZg The cello and piano duet version is included in this package but is also sold separately for $5.00. Duration: 8 minutes Year: 1998.

Cello,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588496 By Diane Guerrero & Stephanie Beatriz. By Lin-Manuel Miranda. Arranged by Martin Lass. Broadway,Latin,Musical/Show,Pop. Score and part. 10 pages. MA Lass & I Lass #197511. Published by MA Lass & I Lass (A0.588496). In this Level 2.5 - 3.0 (Intermediate) arrangement, Martin Lass has arranged the hit song, What Else Can I Do?, for solo cello and piano accompaniment. Guitar chords and chord boxes are included. What Else Can I Do? is a song from Disney's 2021 animated feature film, Encanto, with music and lyrics written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It was released by Walt Disney Records as part of the film's soundtrack in November, 2021. The soundtrack has achieved many accolades and charted No. 1 or Top Ten across the world, including No. 1 on US Billboard Hot 100. Wikipedia notes that, to develop the soundtrack, the composer, Miranda, and team visited Colombia—the setting of Encanto—to study the country's music. Consequentially, the album is rooted in genres such as vallenato, cumbia, bambuco and rock en español, making use of the traditional music instruments of Colombia, and incorporates salsa, tango, reggaeton and bachata styles alongside pop, hip hop, folk and musical theatre elements. In the film, the songs are performed by the Madrigals, who are a multigenerational family with magical powers granted to them by a miracle; the lyrical themes revolve around individuality, self-worth, transgenerational trauma and familial love. This arrangement has been specifically tailored for intermediate-level cello while retaining all of the original elements of the song, as well as some original interpretative elements. The lead line combines some of the different voices in the original song. The key has been changed from the original A minor/C major to the more violin-friendly F minor/Ab major, which changes the modulation halfway through the song from the very challenging Bb minor/Db major to the more friendly F# minor/A major.

Flute, horn, viola, cello and piano - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q5925 Composed by Volker David Kirchner. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, score and parts. Duration 6 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q5925. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q5925). Volker David Kirchner’s works encompass every genre; in addition to numerous compositions for musical theatre and for orchestra, this viola player who formerly played in orchestras and chamber ensembles still shows a preference for composing chamber music. Yet even in this field of “pure, absolute†music, Kirchner’s work has a theatrical quality which shows itself very clearly in his choice of titles (e.g. Mysterion, Il canto della notte, Lamento d’Orfeo, Exil). In this Quintet Kirchner manages to use the various possible combinations of the different instruments to create highly expressive music.

Cello,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.805660 Composed by Max Bruch. Arranged by Marcus Martin. Concert,Jewish,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and part. 13 pages. Cornelius Edition (uk) #6703211. Published by Cornelius Edition (uk) (A0.805660). German Composer Max Bruch (1838-1920) completed this work in 1880 whilst in Liverpool, England. It is dedicated to - and premiered by - Robert Hausmann, who had requested a cello piece from Bruch. The work is styled as an ‘Adagio on 2 Hebrew Melodies’. The first theme, which gives the work its title, imitates the voice of the cantor who chants the liturgy during the evening service on every Yom Kippur. The second theme is derived from English composer Isaac Nathan’s arrangement of Byron’s O weep for Those that Wept on Babel’s Stream and is given a more Schumannesque treatment in the tonic major key. Although originally scored for full orchestra, the work is frequently and effectively performed with piano accompaniment. It is a popular recital piece.

In 1833 his father took his fourteen-year-old son to the Paris Conservatoire, where the director Luigi Cherubini was impressed by his cello playing and accepted him as a student, even though foreign candidates were not normally admitted there. Offenbach then changed his first name ‘Jacob’ to ‘Jacques’. From 1835 he worked as a cellist at the Paris Opéra comique, making ends meet by teaching and performing. From 1850 to 1855 he was Director of Music at the Théâtre Français. He then found his own theatre to rent in Paris and put on highly successful productions of his operetta Orpheus in the Underworld (1858) and other stage works. Jmsgu3 #4888259. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550915). Based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Well suited for church meditations or school programs or recital encores.  Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as a court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival               Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.

Cello,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549838 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Concert,Easter,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3554481. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549838). Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the voice is calling us) from Cantata BWV 140. Duration: ca. 4:00, Score: 6 pages, solo part 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. Program this for church services during the Easter season, weddings, or as a recital encore.Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) also known as: Sleepers Awake Bach composed his church cantata Wachet auf (BWV 140) as part of his second annual cantata cycle covering the entire annual church calendar. It is based on the hymn of the same name by Philipp Nicolai (1599). The hymn text covers the readings for the 27th Sunday after Trinity. Bach designed the cantata in seven movements, setting the stanzas in various forms. Among these forms are the chorale fantasia, the chorale prelude, and a four-part chorale. He casts the new lyrics as recitatives – in a manner similar to the opera. Fourth Movement Bach writes the fourth movement, Zion hört die Wächter singen (Zion hears the watchmen singing), in the style of a chorale prelude with the chorale phrases performed as a strict cantus firmus. The phrases seem to enter at times erratically against the famous lyrical melody. The violins play this melody in unison as a foil against the cantus phrases. The violin melody is so independent and complete that when the cantus melody appears it catches the listener at times totally off-guard. Bach later transcribed this movement for organ (BWV 645). This transcription became No. 1 of the Six Schübler Chorales. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific.
