Adagio after Hebrew Melodies. Composed by Max Bruch. This edition: piano reduction with solo part. Cello Library. Downloadable, Piano reduction with solo part. Op. 47. Schott Music - Digital #Q6921. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6921).

Key: D minor.

The popularity of his (first) violin concerto drove Max Bruch not just almost to despair - 'I cannot listen to this concerto any more', he wrote to his publisher - it also got in the way of the composer's remaining oeuvre. Wrongly, as is apparent in Kol Nidrei, the adagio 'based on Hebrew melodies', Op. 47, one of the most expressive Romantic solo works. Composed in 1881, it testifies to the composer's enthusiasm for folksongs and thrives on a passionate and warm tonal language.

Composed by Yuan-Chen Li. Contemporary,Standards,World. Score and part. 6 pages. Yuan-Chen Li #6866385. Published by Yuan-Chen Li (A0.926744).

Lullaby is the common theme running through three pieces for cello and piano, written for students of beginner, intermediate, and intermediate/advanced levels: Lullaby in D Key, Fantasia Lullaby, and When the Rainbow Says Goodnight. It takes students to consider color as a technical and formal expression that varieties of tone colors, as well as tonal centers, are explored. Originally modal, the tune by the aboriginal people takes the rocking baby as the inspiration and is embellished with a wide range of ornaments, string changes, and tonal centers, which are all relevant to Chinese traditional music and contemporary music.

CMTNC (Chinese Music Teachers Association of Northern California) Commission Series is a collection of musical works for a set of twelve pieces for violin, piano, cello, and clarinet (three pieces for each instrument written for beginner, intermediate, and intermediate/advanced students; with or without piano accompaniment). Through this series, student performers and their audiences are reminded of life experiences through the reminiscence and creative process of classic Chinese music literature and well-known folksongs.

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. 19th Century,Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. Score and part. 9 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #948812. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1364520).

This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as “The Isle of Skyeâ€) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland.

The boat in the song (“Speed bonny boatâ€) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 “carried the lad who was born to be king†to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as “Bonnie Prince Charlie.†The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie.

In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers.

The Skye Boat Song has its roots in a traditional Gaelic melody. In this arrangement for cello and piano much of the piece is playable in first position though in the second half there is a top G (but only once).

Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 20 pages. Diego Marani #6017031. Published by Diego Marani (A0.528448).

The Hungarian Dances (German: Ungarische Tänze) by Johannes Brahms (WoO 1), are a set of 21 lively dance tunes based mostly on Hungarian themes, completed in 1879. They are among Brahms's most popular works and were the most profitable for him. The better-known Hungarian Dances include Nos. 1 and 5, the latter of which was based on the csárdás Bártfai emlék (Memories of Bártfa) by Hungarian composer Béla Kéler, which Brahms mistakenly thought was a traditional folksong.

This arrangement for cello with piano accompaniment reflects faithfully the originals.
