She played principle cello and had several solo features in the program. I was so impressed with her performance that I hired her to participate in several recordings of my music. She played cello in my string quartet, Sodium, my Octet in D, and my song cycle Alice. She is now a senior at NEC, and I decided that as a parting gift I would write a cello duet for her. English.In a magazine with reports on mental institutions, Thomas Larcher came across interviews with patients: 'These sentences are of a strong inner power, yet do not claim to convey an overall picture of these people. There rather appear snatches from their world like a stroboscope.' The soprano part in Larcher's composition attends to these texts in a very restraint, often introverted manner, but they continue to have an effect in the instrumental parts, like catalysts of seemingly disturbing processes. The world premiere with Juliane Banse, Christian Tetzlaff, Nikolaj Schneider and the composer on the piano took place at the renowned festival 'Spannungen' in the power station of Heimbach in 2002. It is written in the original key of D minor and switches between 12/8 and 4/4 time for ease of reading rhythms. The piano part is a true accompaniment and does not double the cello part at all throughout the piece. The 4/4 section requires some shifting to 3rd and 4th positions. This would make an excellent piece for an electric instrument, especially in the middle section, which has a grunge vibe to it.  The PDF download contains both a full score and a set of individual parts - Cello and Piano.
