The Minuet in G major (BWV Anh. 114) was composed by Christian Petzold and featured in The Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach� in 1725, which J.S Bach gifted to his second wife Anna Magdalena. Since the piece was included in this book, it was thought to be a composition by J.S. Bach. But in 1970, it was discovered to be the work of Christian Petzold.

This aria has a simple A-A-B-B musical form. Although this aria was traditionally attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, recent research has shown that is was rather composer by his youngest son Johann Christian Bach. Moreover, the title Aria does not appear in the source (there is no title for this work in Anna Magdalena's Notebook).
This score contains suggestions for the ornaments in accordance with the performance practice of the early Classical period.
