This beginner piano piece is the shortened version of the song C D E Just for Me.  It is designed to introduce the youngest beginner students to their first three notes on the treble staff using the Middle C position.  This should be the first song that they learn from my instructional songs.  Using large font with bright colours, lyrics and fingering, new beginners will easily learn this song.  It uses quarter and half notes for the rhythms for easy reading.  If a student needs more assistance distinguishing between the notes on the staff, I will highlight each note head a different colour depending on the pitch.

For older beginner students, I recommend using the full version of the song C D E Just for Me instead.  It is also available for purchase. .

Do your students need help learning the names of the space notes in the bass clef?  This unique song is designed to help them learn the spaces of the C Position: C, E, G!  Using the saying All Cows Eat Grass to help us remember the names of the spaces, I have created a fun way to learn the Cows Eat Grass spaces.  With each note is the word that corresponds with that note in the same space as the note! Using a variety of combinations of the three notes, you and your students will have fun, and maybe even laugh at some of the sayings that come from those combinations!

Instructions for How to Practise this song are included, with a bonus challenge for those extra keen students!

This arrangement is suitable for beginner piano students who are confident with reading notes in the Middle C position.  It is written in somewhat simpler rhythm with only the melody, and contains the first verse and chorus of the song.  Although the song is quite long, students with shorter attention spans could easily choose their favourite section to choose and learn this section or the song could be taught over several weeks.  I use this piece with students as young as five or six years old, altering it for their interest in the song sections.  Late beginner students should easily be able to learn the entire song, although I do have first year students also learning this piece quite confidently.

Teaching tip:  Most students already know this song, so I have them sing along as they play, focusing on the pitch instead of the written rhythm as the rhythm will actually come quite naturally to them from their familiarity with the original recording of the song.
