Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033500 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #638805. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1033500). Blue, in Lynne's new series, Box of Paints, was created around the color that is the most favored of all the colors. This piano solo is built entirely on whole-tone (whole step) scales and clusters and could be taught by rote. The whole-tone scale is also called the hexatonic scale because it is comprised of 6 tones (consecutive). It is the opposite of the chromatic scale which moves by half-tones (half-steps). Blue was created to be performed languidly in 6/4 with quarter note = 105 and liberal use of both damper and soft pedals, it expresses musically the feeling of floating. Explores 4 octave range. Created to be performed very expressively and with some rubato, the student enjoys exploring almost entire keyboard. Form is A B A B Fingering is made up entirely in each hand of 2 3 4 with some crossing over of hands. Great piece for beginners and how to perform an ending with finesse this ending being a low cluster held by the 6 full counts plus a fermata, teaches one how to continue the dreamy mood in this setting entirely opposite from ending with finesse on my Orange-this being flashy with ending. Defined as a cool color, blue is one of the 3 primary colors. Like the color green, serene blue evokes feelings of calmness and relaxation. Some even speculate that just looking at the color blue causes the body to create chemicals that are calming. Blue is also symbolic of stability and reliability, inspiring use of this color in the business world in advertising. It is the color of the sky and ocean (reflecting the sky). Lynne Cox is the artist who performs the vocals and piano on this you tube site (and other streaming platforms) Also on you tube and other streaming platforms, Lynne performs an instrumental version.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033516 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #638816. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1033516). Green, in Lynne Cox's new series, Box of Paints, is a secondary color that results from mixing the two primary colors, yellow and blue. Green symbolizes nature, the environment, harmony, and tranquility, as well as growth and renewal-as in the green growth of spring. It is considered restful-many doctors' and dentists' offices are painted this color to calm the patient! For these reasons, the tempo/mood indication is 'tranquilly'. Lyrics depict restful, tranquil scenes of nature and the flow of the music laid back. Rather a softly performed piece with nothing louder than mp. A sections utilize hands in middle C position with RH mindful of the F#. Divided melody here between hands. B section also displays divided melody but with an entirely different melody. Because of the 8va the piece covers 2 octaves. In m. 10 (likewise in m. 34) The right hand is set up for a 5-finger D position since melody reaches up to A easily by arranging a fingering change. Form: intro A B A coda Key of G major Time signature Intro begins with dotted-half notes alternating between hands on Gs covering 4 octaves, damper pedal held over all 4 measures here. Students asked if the Gs were because it is the first letter of green! Coda same as intro except for a ritardando at end. Touches: entire piece very legato requiring the fingers to produce this in A sections, not relying on damper pedal as the intro and coda do. As in all of solos in this series, Box of Paints, the piece is designed to be open-ended encouraging and inspiring the student to think of things they like in this color and compose their own lyrics, even composing their own music about their favorite color. Great recital and/or contest and/or festival lists. Lynne performs the vocals and piano on the following you tube link. Lynne also arranged this piece as an instrumental only with many additions such as instrumental voicing and different instruments entitled 'Green Instrumental', also on you tube. Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033575 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #638882. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1033575). In Lynne's new series, 'Box of Paints', features the piano solo/lyrics, 'Yellow'. Each of the six elementary solos in this series explores the different emotions various colors evoke and/or represent. Yellow is one of the 3 primary colors and is cheerful, warm, bright, and promotes laughter. The entire series (6 pieces) would make a grand recital program-especially since they range from primary/early elem. to late elementary. 'Yellow' is a beginner piece in key of C beginning in A section with hands around Middle C (but not in true Middle C position) creating a hands-divided melody with a tiny bit of harmony hands together. To be played 'cheerfully'. First two 4-note phrases are around middle C, then repeats 8va. Form in A B A coda. B section finds bouncing (staccato) broken octaves made easy by hands answering (or repeating) first note in measure (LH) an octave higher with RH. Back and forth they banter for 4 measures and repeat this phrase an octave higher and softer. Dynamic variations throughout the piece add artistry. Coda adds echo effect and ends with rit. and fermata. Touches: student learns legato in A section, staccato in B section. Time signature in common time with rhythmic values: quarter, half, and whole notes. Entire piece is over a 2-octave span (made easy!) As in all of solos in this series, 'Box of Paints', the piece is designed to be open-ended encouraging and inspiring the student to think of things they like in this color and compose their own lyrics, even composing their own music about their favorite color. Lynne Cox also arranged this as an instrumental solo adding many instruments and parts. It can be heard on you tube and other streaming platforms under 'Yellow Instrumental'. Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1034205 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #639541. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1034205). 'Koala Lullaby' is an original piano solo with lyrics featured in Lynne Cox's 'Noah's Ark Series'. This series was created to introduce students to different musical styles and to global music. For the student what more fun guides could there be other than animals? Different animals in various locales introduce the student to numerous styles. In this piece the koala introduces the lullaby style. There is an 'Actual Factual' page on the back explaining in depth the theory of the piece and facts about the koala. These 'Actual Factual' pages are on the backs of all solos in this 'Noah's Ark Series' in hopes that the student can make a project of this in school in science or social studies culminating in his/her performance of the piece on a portable keyboard. 'Koala Lullaby' perfectly fits the animal that sleeps more per 24-hour period than any other animal, so it was easy to assign the lullaby style to him. One thinks of koalas and kangaroos when Australia is mentioned so this is the locale for both my koala and 'Joey the Wallabee Kangaroo'. This and other pieces in the series are great for recitals-especially animal or global themed and perfect for contests and festivals.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033581 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #638891. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1033581). In Lynne's new series, 'Box of Paints', is 'Red'. Each of the six elementary solos in this series explores the different emotions various colors evoke and/or represent. This is an elementary piano solo/lyrics. Red is one of the 3 primary colors and is strong, energetic, and powerful. It is attention-getting and this is why sometimes it represents danger-as in fire trucks, stop signs, and train crossings, all mentioned in the lyrics. In some cultures, red is a lucky color. Form is intro A B A coda. Is in the key of C and 4/4 time signature. To be performed BOLDLY! Intro demands attention beginning with fortissimo clusters deep in the bass hands alternating, repeating up an octave, and then one more. A sections employ solid triads in root position beginning in LH with RH answering an octave higher. B sections arpeggiate these same chords with hands crossing over. Coda is exactly the mirror image of the intro, going down the piano with the clusters instead of up. This is a good dynamic contrast with 'Blue' and 'Green' in this series. Families of chords: utilizes 3 different families: 1. White/black/white; 2. White/white/white 3. Black/white/white. Lynne also performs this as an instrumental solo on you tube and other streaming platforms. The you tube link to the instrumental version is: https://youtu.be/Wim0E89rLqY.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033570 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #638879. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1033570). Introducing in her series, 'Box of Paints', 'Purple' is an early elementary piano solo. 'Purple' is a great beginner piece with hands on middle C position in the A sections, traveling all over the piano in B section using damper pedal. In the key of F, form is: Intro A B A coda. The student learns to build the F major triad one note at the time in the intro (repeated in the coda) to mimic a trumpet fanfare. At the same time the student learns crescendo as the fanfare builds for 4 measures. This includes a 'natural crescendo', simply meaning thicker texture as one adds notes harmonically (vertically). After all, this is a royal color that is associated with kings and queens (in the lyrics). Lyrics are in poetic style singing of things that purple brings to mind. The piece is designed to be open-ended encouraging and inspiring the student to think of things they like in this color and compose their own lyrics, even composing their own music about their favorite color. Purple is a secondary color that results from combining the two primary colors, red and blue. **An added bonus to this sheet music is a picture to color below score on 2nd page of all the things that were in the lyrics. Each of the six elementary solos in this series explores the different emotions various colors evoke and/or represent. The entire series (6 pieces) would make a grand recital program and/or contest and festival lists.

Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033577 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #638885. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1033577). 'ORANGE'! Oh, my! SWINGING!!! 'This one is for late elementary or medium difficulty. One of the most fun-to play solos I've ever created. Inspired by my granddaughters' love of the knock-knock jokes based on the phrases; 'Knock-knock, who's there? Orange-orange who? orange you glad you're...' This is a rollicking piece with a swinging intro (repeated as bridge going into second A section) but segueing into a B section at a slower tempo and comprised completely of major sevenths! (all in broken chords and/or rolled chords with help for small hands by the use of damper pedal). Structure of a major 7th chord being: maj 3rd, m3rd, maj 3rd requires many accidentals in the B section. The mood surprises with a dramatic shift into this dreamy sequence created by these major sevenths which LH breaks up and RH answers with rolled same chord. Intro is sassy and attention-grabbing. With hands in unison, this familiar rhythmic pattern beginning with a very quick note (16th) with emphasis on the second note, introduces the first A section consisting of melody of broken chords with fun, fun lyrics that are tossed around between the hands in an antiphonal question/answer style. Interspersed are 5-finger position descending motifs as well as accompanying chords (or pieces of chords) placed on predictable beats for continuity and ease of learning. Chord progressions are unexpected and surprising, as are the 5-finger position motifs. Coda creates excitement by building D major full chord with hands in unison with much crescendo. Great for analyzing chords and 5-finger position melodies. Did you know the word 'orange' has no English rhyming word? I took that as a challenge and had FUN with the lyrics! Form: intro A interlude/bridge A coda Key of G harmonic minor w/lots of exploration into other majors and minors. Time signature 4/4. When singing the lyrics, I envision the first phrase being sung in a normal voice, the 2nd in an operatic voice, 3rd in a voice much like the 'Cookie Monster', and the 4th in a very childish voice. Tempo indication moderato, quarter note at 108 Lots of dynamic contrast. I also perform just the instrumental version of this piece on you tube entitled, 'Orange Instrumental' and the you tube link is: https://youtu.be/A1moEpClsYI.
