R. Nathaniel Dett's Suite, In the Bottoms is a delightful set of 5 pieces by a Canadian-American black composer. Juba is the last piece in the set, and is descriptive of dancing by people living in the river bottoms of the southern sections of North America. Dett was quite specific about not taking it too fast. This intermediate piano arrangement uses the A and B sections of the dance, and is fun to play.
