This arrangement is suitable for beginner piano students who are confident with reading notes in the Middle C position. It is written in somewhat simpler rhythm with only the melody, and contains the first verse and chorus of the song. Although the song is quite long, students with shorter attention spans could easily choose their favourite section to choose and learn this section or the song could be taught over several weeks. I use this piece with students as young as five or six years old, altering it for their interest in the song sections. Late beginner students should easily be able to learn the entire song, although I do have first year students also learning this piece quite confidently.
Teaching tip: Most students already know this song, so I have them sing along as they play, focusing on the pitch instead of the written rhythm as the rhythm will actually come quite naturally to them from their familiarity with the original recording of the song.
