Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1394451

By Sibylle Kuder. By Sibylle Kuder. Arranged by Sibylle Kuder. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Traditional. Score. 5 pages. Sibylle Kuder #977937. Published by Sibylle Kuder (A0.1394451).

Early level piano solo, with optional mp3 accompaniment or piano duet.

No hands together, but several times the melody moves from one hand to the other which requires a smooth transition.

Most of the eighth note figures are symmetrical for the hands: 2-3-2, or 3-4-3, or 1-2-3-4.

The melody moves mostly in steps and skips, with fingering provided for the skips and occasional 4th. RH starts in G five-finger position, LH - with one exception at the end - stays in Middle C position for the entire piece. No 5th fingers are used.

The counting is straightforward - quarter notes, and eighth note pairs.

The articulation is predictable: quarter notes staccato or (rarely) tenuto, eighth notes legato.

A Gavotte is a dance, so it is probably most important to pay attention to very crisp and bouncy staccato notes.

By Sibylle Kuder. By Sibylle Kuder. Arranged by Sibylle Kuder. Children,Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Traditional. Score. 7 pages. Sibylle Kuder #978381. Published by Sibylle Kuder (A0.1394898).

Early level piano solo, with optional mp3 accompaniment and piano duet.

While it is not an actual - known - song, it has the elements of a children’s song:

 - simple rhythms - half notes, and quarter notes and rests make the counting easy;

 - a melody that moves in steps and skips;

 - predictable four-measure phrases.

Steps and skips make the reading easy, with fingering provided at the beginning of each line, and any time a hand moves. Most hand movement is either step-wise, or from contracting the hand - moving 3 next to 1.

The two main challenges here are the unexpected harmony in m. 5 and similar places (the only sharp in the entire song), and the need to pay particular attention to the articulation - legato, staccato, two-note slurs, to keep it from sounding mechanical.

Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1186978

Composed by Sibylle Kuder. Contest,Festival,Instructional,Romantic Period. Score. 6 pages. Sibylle Kuder #786602. Published by Sibylle Kuder (A0.1186978).

In 6/8 time, the counting is straight-forward: it’s either groups of three consecutive eighth notes, or dotted quarter notes, and occasionally a dotted half note at the end of a phrase.

Minimal hands together. Where the left hand does accompany the right hand, it’s with dotted half notes (while the right hand has dotted quarter notes), and every time it is the same double notes plus one three-note chord.

The eighth notes move either step-wise (using fingers 1-2-3), or - with one exception -, in skips (broken major and minor chords).

The reading and counting of this piece are not challenging, but the use of syncopated pedal and the need for a measured rubato make this piece a Level 2.

Includes two scores: one performance score, and a study score with slightly larger notes, more white space to write comments, and many interpretation details such as dynamics, pedal, and how to approach the rubato. There are alternatives for how to play the one-octave arpeggios.
Requires syncopated pedal.
Level 2.
