A Change in Me from Beauty and the Beast is part of a series of Disney piano solo arrangements for late beginner / grade 1.  

Everyone can benefit by learning pieces they recognise, but in the early stages of learning, this can sometimes prove to be a challenge too far.  

If the piece is too far outside the ability level of the student, frustration and self-doubt can creep in.

The arrangements in this series concentrate on building connections between how the music looks, how it feels, and what it sounds like. 

To simplify learning, the arrangements are notated at half speed (where needed), do not require any use of sharps or flats, and are harmonised using a 5 - note hand position in the left hand.

Short introductions have been added to highlight the hand position changes used in the song.  These give students the opportunity to build their confidence by navigating the changes of hand positions before encountering them in the recognisable part of the song.

Catherine lives in a small rural village in Shropshire, England and has over 25 years experience teaching piano. Since completing her Master’s Degree, specialising in composition, Catherine enjoys arranging existing melodies with pianistic accompaniments that focus on furthering technique as well as providing an opportunity to enjoy performing recognisable pieces.

Also known as “A Day In The Life Of A Fool,� and “Manha de Carnival,� the song was first introduced in the movie “Black Orpheus in 1959. It’s one of the first jazz tunes that many players learn.Whisper Not is a composition by Benny Golson. It is in a minor key and contains a shout chorus (a special chorus between the final solo and the closing head). It quickly became popular with other musicians: Thad Jones and Morgan recorded their own versions before its composer had the chance to record it with his own group. Golson's early version was on his 1957 album Benny Golson's New York Scene. By 1960, John S. Wilson, critic at The New York Times, had labelled the song, together with another Golson composition, I Remember Clifford, an established part of the jazz repertory. It has been recorded by hundreds of musicians, becoming a jazz standard.

This next part is copy and pasted from my blog: My inspiration for The pianist's Wind Chimes came mainly from Philip Glass. The Philip Glass Etudes are kind of short, but I've been listening to them recently. They are somewhat profound even though they are brief and not that advanced. Of course a piece does not have to be long or hard to be profound. The Minimalist style is a great way for beginner and intermediate piano students to sound excellent at piano recitals. I usually don't think about the title of a piece first. The title came to me as I was working on it. Funnily enough, the title might be the worst part of this piece. I only used the name The Pianist's Wind Chimes because I thought it was a cool name (ha ha ha!). In the middle of The Pianist's Wind Chimes, there is a reference to Beethoven's Fur Elise. The famous first two measures of Fur Elise were part of my inspiration. The notes are sort of different. I didn't want to copy Fur Elise completely. But I did want to make the reference obvious enough. I do wander how many people will recognize the reference. I hope most of them will.
