The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. As he was working on this symphony during the years of the Napoleonic Wars, this experience was probably within his experience. It was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, by director Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, where it is used in the final scene of the film. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his most excellent symphony, and a music critic of the time reported, this symphony is the most melodically rich and the most pleasing and comprehensible of all Beethoven's symphonies..

The Oboe Concerto in D minor, S D935, is an early 18th-century concerto for oboe, strings and continuo attributed to the Venetian composer Alessandro Marcello. The earliest extant manuscript containing Johann Sebastian Bach's solo keyboard arrangement of the concerto, BWV 974, dates from around 1715.Bach's keyboard version was published as an arrangement of a concerto by Antonio Vivaldi in the 19th century. In 1923 the C minor version of the oboe concerto was published as a composition by Benedetto Marcello, Alessandro's brother. In the second half of the 20th century several publications indicated Alessandro again as the composer of the piece, as it had been in its early 18th-century print, and the oboe concerto was again published in its D minor version.This arrangement for viola with piano accompaniment of the marvelous second movement (adagio) of the concerto is suitable for any occasion.

There is an early Sonatina for Violin and Piano dating from his time at Cincinnati, as well as mature sonatas with piano for violin, viola, and cello. The Sonata for Viola and Piano was composed in 1999 and is characteristic of Reynolds' s later style, employing a rather complex harmonic language. The first movement includes an extensive unmetered passage and the third movement is a virtuoso tour de force-an exercise in perpetual motion for both performers. Reynolds stated that the pedaling in the piano part should be followed exactly as notated in order to create the timbres he wanted. The first performance of the Sonata for Viola and Piano was presented by Melissa Matson, viola; and Barry Snyder, piano; on a recital in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, on 13 September 1999. I would like to thank Melissa Matson and Barry Snyder for their help in preparing this first publication of the Reynolds Sonata for Viola and Piano. No one knows this piece as intimately as these two virtuosi, and their input has been invaluable.

Etude Op. 25, No. 7 in C-sharp minor composed by Frédéric Chopin is for a piano technical study.  The melody part is played by the left hand.  It is sometimes called Cello as a term of endearment.  There are several arrangement for Cello solo accompanied by Piano.  The arrangements by Auguste Franchomme (1808-1884), Jules de Swert (1843-1891), and WÅ‚adysÅ‚aw Tarnowski (1836-1878)  are in d minor.  On the other hand, the arrangement by Alexander Konstantinovich Glazunov (1865-1936) is in e minor, which is the most poplar one. This score is a transcription for Viola and Piano.

The name Nocturne (meaning of the night) was originally an ensemble piece in the 18th century in several movements used for for evening parties. Later In the 19thc it's one movement form, it was adopted by John Field and later popularised by Chopin. It generally has a tranquil lyrical melody and is very romantic and expressive. I have tried to keep these elements in this Nocturne. Written here for Clarinet in B flat, Viola and Piano, the parts are equally divided. Highest note top D flat ( clarinet once). Bowing for the viola has been left to the performer. It is written in the key of concert B flat minor it has a very gentle opening with harmonies evolving around a cycle of 5th's in places. The piece has three definite sections- the lyrical melody to begin with, a middle section building to a climax before a return to the 1st section. This is followed by a transitional contrasting section (poco piu mosso) wandering through a few keys to settle on an inner pedal tonic note chime. Gentle chords restore the opening once more- this opening theme climaxes towards the end and a gentle reflection of the opening bars concludes the piece. It is 4 mins 20 in length.
