Funiculì, Funiculà is a Neapolitan song composed in 1880 by Luigi Denza to lyrics by Peppino Turco. It was written to commemorate the opening of the first funicular railway on Mount Vesuvius. The sheet music was published by Ricordi and sold over a million copies within a year. Since its publication, it has been widely adapted (Richard Strauss, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Arnold Schoenberg) and recorded (Luciano Pavarotti, Beniamino Gigli, Il Volo).

La création de la version pianistique eut lieu à Paris le 5 avril 1902 par le pianiste Ricardo Viñes. Son exécution dure environ six minutes. La Pavane a été orchestrée par Ravel en 1910. L'œuvre porte la référence M.19 dans le catalogue des œuvres du compositeur établi par le musicologue Marcel Marnat. In this version, the composition was arranged for Viola and Piano by Harry Walker.
