The theme of this contest was struggle, and it was the summer of 2020 during one of the heights of the pandemic and during the civil unrest in Minneapolis. While these are not at all my stories to tell, I couldn't help but be moved by the collective pain we all bore witness to. The opening section of this piece captures that pain, and the second half of the piece is a wish for resolution that hasn't arrived yet.
