In 1882, Tchaikovsky considered creating a concert suite out of numbers from his marvelous ballet Swan Lake, which he had composed six years previously. Iverson was a 20th Century pastor, evangelist, and hymnist from Georgia (USA). Both men wrote Pnumatological works (dealing with the Holy Spirit). This work is great for Pentacost or revivals. Section A starts off with a segment from Spirit of the Living God and after the rest, goes straight into Simpson's O Comforter, Gentle and Tender. At the end of the section, there is a modulation to a new key with the help of an Italian augmented sixth chord. Section B then interweaves both hymns with an occasional descant. A deceptive cadence occurs in measure 29 and finally resolves to the tonic.
