Held was an early 17th century German lawyer and hymnist. This chorale is intended for Epiphany. His work would later be translated into English by Catherine Winkworth. Section A exposits Held's Epiphany chorale. Section B incorporates a tune and harmony by yours truly. A modulation to a new key occurs towards section C with the aid of a French augmented sixth chord. Section C returns to section A with the melody from section B serving as a descant.
