B-Flat Trumpet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317913 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Christian,Historic,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #906595. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1317913). Instrumental descants are useful in hymn playing as they add variety and interest to the music, and they can be used to enhance any piece of music if done correctly. An instrumental descant is a counter melody usually pitched higher than the hymn's. It is played by an instrument, usually a trumpet or a flute, with organ accompaniment. The usual form for these instrumental postludes is to play the hymn melody once through and then to play the descant. An instrumental descant always enlivens the singing of hymns, and this volume promises practicality, variety, and well-crafted countermelodies to do just that. The term descant is used to describe a countermelody, generally at a higher pitch than the main melody, and it is typically sung in the final or penultimate verse of a hymn. Although the English Hymnal of 1906 omitted descants, this influential hymnal served as a source of tunes for which the earliest known hymn tune descants were published. Among composers of descants from 1915 to 1934 were Alan Gray, Geoffrey Shaw, and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Tpt. Pft - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM418 Composed by Paul Kelly. Trumpet and Piano. Score and part. 14 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM418. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM418). ISBN 9790570483174.A suite for trumpet and piano in 3/4 time, recommended for the intermediate player. Minuet and Variations for Trumpet and Piano This minuet starts off with restrained elegance and then veers off into something with attitude, no longer quite baroque. There are few places to rest in this piece so good breath control is very important. Strive for precise articulation especially in the staccato passages, and a full, rich tone in the Tempo Primo section at Bar 30. Sarabande This piece was inspired by various classical works but it still has something of the Twentieth Century about it. You'll notice the B section suggests a minuet. If you can find moments to use a true, fully supported pianissimo it will help make this melody truly haunting. August Serenade This piece has a spritely main theme that introduces two quieter, more introspective melodies. The first theme again echoes a minuet while the second is more of a slow waltz. The main theme should be precise and fiery, the second played with a sweet elegance and the waltz filled with warmth and autumnal colours.

Morning Has Broken is a popular and well-known Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, then set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune known as Bunessan [1] (it shares this tune with the 19th century Christmas Carol Child in the Manger[2]). It is often sung in children's services and in Funeral services.[3] English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat. The song became identified with Stevens due to the popularity of this recording. It reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number one on the U.S. easy listening chartin 1972,[4] and number four on the Canadian RPM Magazine charts. The hymn originally appeared in the second edition of Songs of Praise (published in 1931), to the tune Bunessan, composed in the Scottish Islands. In Songs of Praise Discussed, the editor, Percy Dearmer, explains that as there was need for a hymn to give thanks for each day, English poet and children's author Eleanor Farjeon had been asked to make a poem to fit the lovely Scottish tune. A slight variation on the original hymn, also written by Eleanor Farjeon, can be found in the form of a poem contributed to the anthology Children's Bells, under Farjeon's new title, A Morning Song (For the First Day of Spring), published by Oxford University Press in 1957. The song is noted in 9/4 time but with a 3/4 feel. Bunessan had been found in L. McBean's Songs and Hymns of the Gael, published in 1900.[5] Before Farjeon's words, the tune was used as a Christmas carol, which began Child in the manger, Infant of Mary, translated from the Scottish Gaelic lyrics written by Mary MacDonald. The English-language Roman Catholic hymnal also uses the tune for the James Quinn hymns, Christ Be Beside Me and This Day God Gives Me, both of which were adapted from the traditional Irish hymn St. Patrick's Breastplate. Another Christian hymn, Baptized In Water, borrows the tune. -Wikipedia
