The Five Pieces in Folk Style by Schumann were originally written for Cello and Piano. They have been beautifully arranged for Tuba or Bass Trombone by Ralph Sauer.

The five movements are in contrasting styles and work very well for Tuba or Bass Trombone.

Schumann was considered the Poet of the Romantics.  His music is expressive; full of robust and elegant phrases.  This work is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and is almost 17 minutes in length.

The playground used to be full of young life but in light of recent events, it seems as if none of the kids really play here any more. Rumor has it that this playground is haunted by some of the kids that used to come here all the time… Not really haunted in a scary way because they are kids. But their spirits live here and man are they energetic. All day, All night, shenanigans would happen here and yet, the police could never find any evidence. At this point, the police reports have to say something about ghosts considering they never have any evidence to give an account. The Graveyard Playground tells the tale of five kids whose spirits are confined to this playground.

Sérénade is an early work of Rachmaninoff, from a grouping of five short solo Piano pieces titled Morceau de Fantasie written in 1892 and dedicated to his harmony teacher Anton Arensky.  

One of his most famous works, the Prélude in C-sharp minor is from this same Opus 3.  

Opus 3, No. 5 (original key in B-flat minor) is the final work of the set and is in a gentle Waltz style, sometimes venturing into the Dorian mode.

Rachmaninoff's lush harmonies and gorgeous melody work very well for the Tuba or Bass Trombone with this fine arrangement set in C minor by Ralph Sauer.

For advanced performers, this movement is about 5 minutes in length.

Arnold Schoenberg's Six Little Pieces, Opus 19, originally for Piano, were published in 1913 at a time when the composer was reacting to his feelings of the excesses of the Romantic Period. They were composed concurrently with his gigantic work Gurre-Lieder.  The first five pieces were written in one day and the last one shortly after the death of Gustav Mahler as a rumored tombeau or memorial.

Mr. Sauer has deftly arranged these six short pieces of around 5 minutes in length for advanced performers.
