They were composed concurrently with his gigantic work Gurre-Lieder.  The first five pieces were written in one day and the last one shortly after the death of Gustav Mahler as a rumored tombeau or memorial.Mr. Sauer has deftly arranged these six short pieces of around 5 minutes in length for advanced performers.

The music was composed by Eduardo di Capua.There are other versions of ’O sole mio but it is usually sung in the original Neapolitan language. ’O sole mio is the Neapolitan equivalent of standard Italian Il mio sole and translates literally as my sunshine. It's Now or Never is a ballad recorded by Elvis Presley in 1960.
