The Last Rose of Summer is a work deeply rooted in Irish culture, originally penned as a poem by the renowned poet and composer Thomas Moore in 1805. Moore, regarded as Ireland’s national poet, was inspired by an 'Old Blush' rose while staying at Jenkinstown Castle in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The song gained widespread popularity and was incorporated into the opera Martha by the German composer Friedrich von Flotow, which premiered in 1847 in Vienna.

A beautiful Irish tune set for Solo Tuba and Piano.  This arrangement is in three verses the first two are the tuba playing the melody in different octaves.  (The first in the staff, the second verse below the staff)  The third verse has a tuba countermelody that can be played up an octave if desired.  Without the optional octave for the final verse the range for the solo part extends from Low G to High A.  Enjoy!
