This set of short pieces was composed as a sequel of sorts to Slidin', my earlier collection of ten solo brass works. There are technical similarities between the two sets, in that both pieces incorporate techniques such as legato and staccato playing, slurs and glissandi. However, in Five-Spot I have employed a slightly larger range, somewhat more challenging rhythms and have used all 7 positions. Therefore, I classed the pieces as being of advanced beginner or intermediate difficulty. I have also included intermediate-level piano accompaniment. These pieces may be played separately or as a set. The tempi are meant as guides to indicate proper performance speed, but are certainly subject to modification as needed. They are also meant to be fun!
