Gordon Cherry #5040983. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792623). Young Glazunov had the special opportunity to meet Franz Liszt in 1884 while on a tour of Europe arranged by his publisher. Piano,Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549436 Composed by Antonín Dvořák. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3494231. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549436). Score: 7 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Duration: 4:25 Not difficult, but requires sensitivity & dynamic control. Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs. Dvořák Background Antonín Dvořák (1841 –1904) was, of course, a composer from Czechoslovakia. As a matter of fact, he was among the first Bohemian composers to attain universal recognition. It is important to realize that the late Romantic Nationalist period featured composers who used traditional and folk elements to portray the character of their nation. In particular, we see this in the music of Grieg (Norway), Finland (Sibelius), and Smetana (Bohemia).  Dvořák relied markedly on rhythms and other characteristics of Moravian and Bohemian folk music. Ascent to Fame Dvořák was truly a child musical prodigy on the violin. The premiere performances of his compositions notably occurred in 1872 and 1873. He submitted his First Symphony in particular to a German competition, but it failed to win. Consequently, in 1874 he presented two more symphonies to the Austrian State Prize for Composition. Johannes Brahms was the principal of the jury and was accordingly very impressed. They forthwith awarded the prize to Dvořák in 1874, 1876, and 1877. At this point, Brahms thereupon endorsed Dvořák to the publisher Simrock. Later, the publisher commissioned Dvořák to compose the Slavonic Dances, Op. 46. These became popular overnight and, as a result, Dvořák's worldwide status was launched. International Status Dvořák visited England upon invitation nine times. On each visit, he frequently conducted performances of his own compositions. He conducted concerts of his music, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Eventually, the Prague Conservatory in fact appointed Dvořák as a professor. There, to be sure, he wrote his famous Dumky Trio. United States Consequently, the National Conservatory of Music of America appointed him as director in 1892. As a result, Dvořák composed his two most famous symphonic works: the Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), which spread his name universally, and his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, one of the most famous of all cello works. Moreover, he wrote his most celebrated American String Quartet during this time. At the same time, because of his growing recognition in Europe and his homesickness for his own country, he left to return to Bohemia in 1895.

Piano,Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1198755 Composed by Allesandro Marcello. Arranged by Diego Marani. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 4 pages. Diego Marani #797836. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1198755). The Oboe Concerto in D minor, S D935, is an early 18th-century concerto for oboe, strings and continuo attributed to the Venetian composer Alessandro Marcello. The earliest extant manuscript containing Johann Sebastian Bach's solo keyboard arrangement of the concerto, BWV 974, dates from around 1715.Bach's keyboard version was published as an arrangement of a concerto by Antonio Vivaldi in the 19th century. In 1923 the C minor version of the oboe concerto was published as a composition by Benedetto Marcello, Alessandro's brother. In the second half of the 20th century several publications indicated Alessandro again as the composer of the piece, as it had been in its early 18th-century print, and the oboe concerto was again published in its D minor version. This easy arrangement for trombone with piano accompaniment of the marvelous second movement (adagio) of the concerto is suitable for any occasion.

Score and parts. 28 pages. Gordon Cherry #2949515. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810773). Gliere's beautiful character pieces, Six Album Leaves from Op. 51 are from a larger collection of twelve originally written for Cello and Piano in 1911 while the composer was living in Berlin. Piano,Tenor Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1204336 Composed by American folk hymn tune. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Easter,Folk,Lent,Traditional. Score and part. 8 pages. Con Spirito Music #802815. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1204336). Here's a lovely, lyrical tune that's ideal for use during Holy Week or as a meditative prelude, offertory, or communion selection for trombone (or euphonium, cello) and piano.Saw Ye My Savior? is an early 19th-century American folk hymn with a tune that predates it by perhaps 100 years or more. Both the text and the tune seem to have been freely adapted to the subject of the song (whether secular or sacred) and the singer, which is typical of folk songs and folk hymns handed down from one generation to the next. For example, the text of the hymn, which begins Saw ye my Savior, saw ye my Savior, saw ye my savior and my God? is similar to that of an English folk song, Saw you my father, saw you my mother, saw you my true love John?In the 1858 edition of William Walker's shape-note hymnal, The Southern Harmony, and Musical Companion, the source cited for the text and tune is Baptist Harmony (1834), p. 477. However, William Hauser and Benjamin Turner's collection, The Olive Leaf (1878), refers to the tune as a Scotch air; and certainly, the Scotch snap rhythm in measures 3 and 4 of the tune lend credence to that. The website, hymnary.org, cites Saw Ye My Savior? as having been published in 167 hymnals (all prior to 1979 but one). Two similar tunes, CRUCIFIXION (Southern Harmony) and ATONEMENT are associated with the text. Because the subject of the text is Christ's crucifixion (see representative text here), Saw Ye My Savior? has often been used as a choral anthem in Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday worship services. This arrangement of the lovely, flowing tune for trombone (or euphonium, cello) and piano is ideal at any time as a meditative prelude to worship, or as an offertory or communion selection. ©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792240 Composed by Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov. Arranged by Sauer, Ralph. 20th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score and part. 12 pages. Gordon Cherry #4764305. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792240). The Serenade, Op. 37 was conceived for Cello with Piano accompaniment, but later in life the composer scored the work for the solo instrument with orchestra. The Trombone world knows Rimsky-Korsakov for his Concerto with Band.  The Serenade has a very similar mood to the slow movement of the Concerto.  It's beautiful lilting rhythm combined with a wonderful melody makes this work very worthwhile.  Mr. Sauer brings a true Trombone feel to the 4 1/2 minute work for advanced performers.
