SKU: A0.811767
Composed by Johann Pachelbel (1653 - 1706). Arranged by arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Graduation,Standards,Wedding. 18 pages. Piper Publications #6087211. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811767).
Although this is an arrangement (the original was written for 2 violins & cello continuo), it has been
edited as an urtext edition so that players of modern instruments can perform it in an authentic style.
All editings are clearly indicated in parentheses ( ) or dashed lines. Sections of all parts have been
transposed up an octave to accommodate the ranges of the wind instruments.
Players would have added ornaments e.g. mordants and trills especially during the repeats. Some of the more obvious have been indicated in parentheses. The only dynamic indications are in the Gigue for the final 2 bars/measures of each section. The convention of playing the repeated sections in a contrasting dynamic (loud - soft or soft - loud) would have sufficed for the other movements. Slurs would have been added at the discretion of the players especially in the slow movements.
The six movements, Sonata, Gavotte, Treza, Aria, Saraband & Gigue are suitable for players of advanced
intermediate standard and above. The clarinet part could be played on a bass clarinet.
