Webers Klarinettenkompositionen gehören bis heute zu den Klassikern der Klarinettenliteratur. Baermanns Sohn Carl hat dazu wesentlich beigetragen. Carl Baermann (;Anmerkung: Auch die Schreibweise „Bärmann ist üblich) (1810-1885) war der berühmteste Schüler seines Vaters. In seinen Revisionen berücksichtigte er die Aufführungspraxis seines Vaters.
