I Write the Songs is a popular song written by Bruce Johnston in 1975 and made famous by Barry Manilow. Manilow's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976[2] after spending two weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December 1975.[3] It won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for Record of the Year in 1977.[3] Billboard ranked it as the No. 13 song of 1976.[4]

The original version was recorded by The Captain & Tennille, who worked with Johnston in the early 1970s with The Beach Boys. It appears on their 1975 album, Love Will Keep Us Together. The first release of I Write the Songs as a single was by then teen-idol David Cassidy from his 1975 solo album The Higher They Climb, which was also produced by Bruce Johnston. Cassidy's version reached #11 on the UK Singles Chart in August of that year.[5]

Johnston has stated that, for him, the I in the song is God,[2] and that songs come from the spirit of creativity in all of us. He has said that the song is not about his Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson.[6]

Manilow was initially reluctant to record the song, stating in his autobiography Sweet Life: The problem with the song was that if you didn't listen carefully to the lyric, you would think that the singer was singing about himself. It could be misinterpreted as a monumental ego trip.[3] After persuasion by Clive Davis, then president of Arista Records, Manilow recorded the song, and his version of I Write the Songs was the first single taken from the album Tryin' to Get the Feeling. It first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 15, 1975, reaching the top of the chart nine weeks later, on January 17, 1976. Wikipedia

This piece was originally written to serve as the opening piece for a recital given by clarinetist, Yumi Ito. Depicted in this piece is a little boy who is taking a walk in Central Park for the first time. He marches into the park, leading his parents excitedly by the hand. He sees many dogs on their walk, jazz musicians performing under the bridge, and the shiny sun reflected in the Reservoir on his way. Everything he sees there is very new to him, and finally, they leave the park with a feeling of satisfaction for his little adventure.

Goya for Clarinet and String Quartet

This work was Commissioned by Bernardino Assunçao Sales for the Final work Master. I just have finished the process and it is based on the next five Paintings of Goya.

    The general structure of the work

    Relationship of movements

    The third is the axis, the form is based on a false mirror where the (original) elements are presented by opposite movement forming a false palindrome.

    The elements thematic of the movements are related, the elements of the first movement reappear in the fifth movement and the elements of the second movement are related in the fourth.

    Use of rhythmics

    The predominant rhythm in the first movement is based on a four-beat measure and in the second movement is based on a three-beat measure. These features are even more present in the fourth and the fifth movement.

    In the third movement (who does the axis of the work) the primary theme is structured over the ternary measure plus a quaternary measure 3/4 + 4/4 and the secondary theme over a quaternary measure plus a ternary measure 4/4 + 3/4.

    Corral de Locos

    The first movement starts describing the characters of the painting Corral de Locos. The string represents the sick and the clarinet the keeper.

    In the first section, the language used is formed on the octatonic scale. The second section represents the feelings of the participants, the feelings of the protagonists are described. Nostalgia, longing for freedom, longing, etc.

    “Korean Simple Suite†No.3  <Happy Wedding>  For Clarinet and Piano Op.273

    It consists of 5 movements in total, and all of them mainly used the traditional 5 notes of “Do,Re,Mi,Sol,Ra†in Korea as far as the melody is concerned. It shows the wedding ceremony of the bride and groom held in the traditional Korean front yard and the surrounding scenery. The original Music was composed for violin and was composed by the composer's own teacher, violinist  Dr. Walter Verdehr.
    1st mov. : The Front Yard: In F minor in 8/12 time, it is a short movement with a bright atmosphere. The Korean’s front yard is a friendly place for villagers' gatherings and events.
    2nd mov. : Yeonzi – Gonzi: In F major in 4/4 time. The meaning of “Yeonji Gonji†is the red dot on the cheeks and forehead of the bride in a Korean traditional wedding ceremony.
    3rd mov. : Joyful Dance: 3/4 time F minor, composed in ABA form, expressed the joy of dancing in Korea.
    4th mov. : Longing: In D minor in 6/4 time, tried to express the feeling of oriental waiting.
    5th mov. : The Bride and Groom: B minor, composed of 4/4 and 6/4 time signatures. Like the title The Groom and the Bride, it is composed in a rondo format that intersects the theme of liveliness and the theme of calm.

    Summer Fling was written in the late summer of 2017. The melody came about me while I was noodling around on my clarinet right before wind ensemble rehearsals, and I quickly went to work arranging a piano accompaniment for it. A couple months later, and I finally had polished together a complete piece. The mood of this piece is supposed to capture the feeling one would get while sitting in the shade underneath a tall tree during a hot summer day, and being at peace with the world surrounding them.
