Clarinet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587363 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by David McKeown. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 7 pages. David McKeown #3221139. Published by David McKeown (A0.587363). Le Cygne, or The Swan, is the penultimate movement of Camille Saint-Saëns’ 1886 suite, Carnival of the Animals. Most often played as a solo piece for cello with piano, the original version was scored for solo instrument and two pianos. It was the only movement for the Carnival that the composer allowed to be heard in public during his lifetime. This version for Clarinet with Piano accompaniment has been arranged to best suit the key and pitch of the solo instrument. The pdf file contains both the piano accompaniment and the separate solo part. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the piano accompaniment is challenging in its constant semiquaver arpeggios. The overall performance time is around three minutes.  Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with expressive playing. The legato in both parts demand precise fingers.   There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314273 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Romantic Period. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #903015. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1314273). Saint-Saëns: The Swan (Le Cygne) movement 13 from the Carnival of the Animals Suite. One of his most popular and widely recognized works, it is the only movement from the Carnival Suite that Saint-Saëns permitted to be performed publicly during his lifetime. This is an excellent recital encore to demonstrate melodic playing and strategic phrasing. The Carnival of the AnimalsThe Carnival of the Animals is an entertaining musical suite of fourteen movements by Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was composed for private performance by an ensemble of two pianos and solo instruments. The Swan (No. 13) is among the fourteen most famous movements. In its entirety, it lasts about 25 minutes.Saint-Saëns BackgroundCharles-Camille Saint-Saëns 1835 – 1921) was, by all means, in particular, a famous French composer, brilliant organist, and significant musical mastermind of the Romantic era. Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, include his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). Notwithstanding, we must also add Violin Concerto No. 3 (1880), Symphony No. 3 (the Organ Symphony, 1886), and, it must be remembered, Carnival of the Animals (1886) to the list.ChildhoodIt is essential to realize that Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly, in fact, a child musical prodigy. Consequently, with this in mind, he made his concert debut, albeit at ten years old. Another critical point to remember is that he expressly studied at the Paris Conservatoire, then, despite reality, conversely followed a traditional career path as a church organist. Nevertheless, twenty years later, on the other hand, he left to become a successful freelance pianist and composer despite, as has been noted, his former employment situation. Furthermore, his performances were, after all, markedly in demand - not only in Europe but, above all, in the Americas all in all as well.YouthA point often overlooked is that in his youth, Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly excited about the modern music of the day. He was, in essence, fond of the music of his contemporaries, particularly Schumann, Liszt, and, for the most part, Wagner. In contrast, however, his compositions seemed, in fact, primarily confined within the conservative classical tradition. Be that as it may, he was, at the same time, nevertheless, a scholar of musical history.CriticismOn the whole, his conservatism, in fact, ultimately brought him into frequent conflict in his later years with composers of the impressionist and, in particular, the dodecaphonic schools of musical thought. A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music, contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing, he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. To put it another way, given these points, he was regarded, perhaps for the most part unfairly, as a non-progressive reactionary henceforth around the time of his passing.LegacySaint-Saëns taught briefly in Paris, where his students included Gabriel Fauré. Maurice Ravel later studied with Fauré. In conclusion, both Ravel and Fauré were powerfully influenced by Saint-Saëns, whom they respected as a musical mastermind.

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549420 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3493999. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549420). Score: 7 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Duration: 4:25 Not difficult, but requires sensitivity & dynamic control. Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs. Dvořák Background Antonín Dvořák (1841 –1904) was, of course, a composer from Czechoslovakia. As a matter of fact, he was among the first Bohemian composers to attain universal recognition. It is important to realize that the late Romantic Nationalist period featured composers who used traditional and folk elements to portray the character of their nation. In particular, we see this in the music of Grieg (Norway), Finland (Sibelius), and Smetana (Bohemia).  Dvořák relied markedly on rhythms and other characteristics of Moravian and Bohemian folk music. Ascent to Fame Dvořák was truly a child musical prodigy on the violin. The premiere performances of his compositions notably occurred in 1872 and 1873. He submitted his First Symphony in particular to a German competition, but it failed to win. Consequently, in 1874 he presented two more symphonies to the Austrian State Prize for Composition. Johannes Brahms was the principal of the jury and was accordingly very impressed. They forthwith awarded the prize to Dvořák in 1874, 1876, and 1877. At this point, Brahms thereupon endorsed Dvořák to the publisher Simrock. Later, the publisher commissioned Dvořák to compose the Slavonic Dances, Op. 46. These became popular overnight and, as a result, Dvořák's worldwide status was launched. International Status Dvořák visited England upon invitation nine times. On each visit, he frequently conducted performances of his own compositions. He conducted concerts of his music, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Eventually, the Prague Conservatory in fact appointed Dvořák as a professor. There, to be sure, he wrote his famous Dumky Trio. United States Consequently, the National Conservatory of Music of America appointed him as director in 1892. As a result, Dvořák composed his two most famous symphonic works: the Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), which spread his name universally, and his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, one of the most famous of all cello works. Moreover, he wrote his most celebrated American String Quartet during this time. At the same time, because of his growing recognition in Europe and his homesickness for his own country, he left to return to Bohemia in 1895.

Score and part. 4 pages. Diego Marani #790582. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1191064). The Oboe Concerto in D minor, S D935, is an early 18th-century concerto for oboe, strings and continuo attributed to the Venetian composer Alessandro Marcello. The earliest extant manuscript containing Johann Sebastian Bach's solo keyboard arrangement of the concerto, BWV 974, dates from around 1715.Bach's keyboard version was published as an arrangement of a concerto by Antonio Vivaldi in the 19th century. In 1923 the C minor version of the oboe concerto was published as a composition by Benedetto Marcello, Alessandro's brother. In the second half of the 20th century several publications indicated Alessandro again as the composer of the piece, as it had been in its early 18th-century print, and the oboe concerto was again published in its D minor version. This easy arrangement for Bb clarinet with piano accompaniment of the marvelous second movement (adagio) of the concerto is suitable for any occasion.

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1499100 Composed by Ruggiero Leoncavallo. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. 19th Century,Romantic Period. Score and part. 10 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #1075149. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1499100). When Leoncavallo’s beautiful solo piece Brise de Mer (“Sea Breeze”) was first published in Berlin in 1906, he was already an established opera composer, largely due to his first opera Pagliacci, which had become an international success. An Impromptu is an informal piece usually for solo instrument. This French word can be translated loosely as “off-hand” and it’s used to describe relatively short pieces which sometimes have a partly improvised style, a simple structure and an emphasis on melody. Piano pieces entitled Impromptu first appeared in the early 19th century and remained popular for decades.  This is a simplified edition of the piece and about ABRSM Clarinet grade 6 - 7 standard (UK). The work has been transposed down to concert E flat major (written F major) from the original. The clarinet part retains the phrasing of the original cello part. The music uses almost the entire clarinet range from low written E to top F above the staff, though this note occurs only once in the piece. The piano part has been simplified by reducing the number of notes in many of the chords, especially those played by the left hand. This is a lovely piece which deserves to be heard more often, with its lyrical melody, elegant changes of harmony and contrasting moods. It would make an excellent item for a clarinet recital. The piece runs for four minutes.

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1160606 Composed by Luigi Boccherini. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Traditional,Wedding. Score and part. 4 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #760901. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1160606). This simple arrangement adapted for clarinet and piano was imagined for a group of beginner students who want to start their immersion in classical music, of course with the help of a teacher. Even though the original work is for strings, this did not prevent this beautiful adaptation, where the original essence of the work was maintained, being made only an adaptation of the tonality and some adaptations in the tessitura of the instruments. This piece can be used for professional and academic recitals, didactic material and repertoire for ensemble practice as well, which does not prevent professional musicians and instructors from using it for performances of their preference.Luigi Boccherini was born in the city of Lucca, in northern Italy. He studied cello and became a virtuoso who eventually moved to Spain, where he worked with the Spanish royal family for the rest of his life. His String Quintet in E major, Op. 11, No. 5, G 275, was written in 1771 and published in 1775, and is one of his most famous works. The quintet is famous for its minuet and trio, third movement which is often played as an independent piece outside the context of the full quintet. This is notably the most famous, it is in 3/4 time, in the key of E Major modulating to A Major. This is a beautiful work, and not just the third movement, with good partial writing for all. The lovely, flowing melodies and rhythms are typical of Boccherini. The quintet is suitable for both concerts and home performances.

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1046167 By Keith Terrett. By Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and part. 5 pages. Keith Terrett #650680. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1046167). An arrangement of one of Puccini’s greatest arias for Bb Clarinet & Piano. Great piece to improve your bell canto style of playing. Take a listen to Conrad Gozzo’s playing on the Tutti Trumpet CD for a fine example! Quando me'n vo', also known as Musetta's Waltz, is a soprano aria, a waltz in act two of Puccini's 1896 opera La bohème. It is sung by Musetta, in the presence of her bohemian friends, hoping to reclaim the attention of her occasional boyfriend Marcello. This scene takes place at the Café Momus [fr]. Shortly after Mimì, Rodolfo, and their friends have taken seats for a drink, Marcello's former girlfriend, Musetta, shows up with her current patron, the elderly Alcindoro. They quarrel for a bit, then the episode begins as Musetta initiates her move on Marcello. She grabs the spotlight, musically speaking, for a short self-promoting aria (Quando me'n vo'). It is a song directed at the people in the café as much as at the audience in the theater. Popular renditions of the melody were produced during the 1950s, including an American Top 40 hit by Sammy Kaye (You) and a version by Della Reese (Don't You Know?), which reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. You will find more Italian arias and Neapolitan songs in my Sibelius & ArrangeMe stores.
