Jazz Ensemble C Instrument - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845985 Composed by Kyle Pudenz. Blues,Jazz. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #6024831. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845985). An original jazz tune written by violinist & multi-instrumentalist Kyle Pudenz, printed as a Real-Book style lead sheet in concert pitch.I wrote this tune in college while experimenting with some more esoteric harmonic structures I learned from Billy Contreras. The A section is a modified minor blues form, with a B section that feels a bit like a very distantly substituted rhythm changes. It works great with any style of small combo, obviously I wrote it for violin but any instrument can take the lead. The rhythm section follows the hits notated on the bottom staff.Enjoy the tune, and if you have comments or suggestions regarding the chart, feel free to reach out on my website www.kylepudenz.com/ or on Instagram @theviolinvagabond

It was written for the musical Oh, Kay! (1926), with the part originally sung on Broadway by English actress Gertrude Lawrence while holding a rag doll in a sentimental solo scene. The song was recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1946 for his first album The Voice Of Frank Sinatra, and again in 1954 for the film Young At Heart. Sinatra's popular recordings helped cement the standard slow style. Someone to Watch Over Me was notably covered by Ella Fitzgerald (1951), Chet Baker (1955), Sarah Vaughan (1957) and Dakota Staton (1960).
