SUMMERTIME from PORGY AND BESS for FLUTE AND ALTO FLUTE DUET - Generally regarded as one of Gershwinâ??s finest songs, â??Summertimeâ? was composed for his opera â??Porgy and Bessâ? in 1934. The jazz and spiritual influenced aria is a lullaby for Clara to sing to her child in act 1, and is reprised several times throughout the opera. The song has gone on to be one of Gershwinâ??s most popular compositions with thousands of versions being made and recorded. This arrangement is for Flute and Alto Flute duet.
