Sonata for Flute and Piano is a four movement 15 minute work that explores a variety of moods as suggested by the titles of its movements:

I. Urban Frenzy, II. Serenity, III. Fiesta Fantasia, IV Introduction and Finale

At times the piano and flute work in partnership, unison or counterpoint. At other times, the piano accompaniment forms a rhythmic foundation above which the flute flies from here to there. Composer Diana Mascari has been a jazz pianist for more than 40 years, and her chamber music always reflects this influence.
