This charming short Baroque piece for flute and harpsichord is by the English composer Richard Jones (1680 - 1744) (known as Dicky). It's adapted from his Suite in A minor for harpsichord, which has 6 short movements. This is the last movement. My grateful thanks to Andrew Edwards from the Facebook Flute Forum who identified the original source of this piece.

This is a fairly slow, reflective piece which starts quite simply and after a key-change, the melody is given more variety and increases in complexity, before a reflectively calm ending. It was composed in the height of the 2020 Covid-19 world pandemic and the title reflects the sentiment that One Day Soon (maybe) ... the world will kick coronavirus and we'll all be able to meet and play music in groups again. Note from the composer - Like everyone, I've been upset and frankly disturbed by the terrible, terrible pictures from Gaza, Israel and Ukraine appearing on our TV news screens over the past weeks and months - so this piece is my response....

War. Conflict. Fighting.

What we need right now - is PEACE.
However, sometimes peace seems a long way away.
So until then - all we can pray for - is HOPE.
Just one ray of hope would be a start.
Just ONE RAY OF HOPE.

I have written the piano accompaniment in three different difficulty levels - hardest, medium and easiest. I have also added guitar chords. All three piano versions (to accompany the same flute part) are in the PDF download.
