Flute,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1494245 Composed by Thomas Moore. Arranged by Alex Nunes Rodrigues. Folk. Score and part. 3 pages. Alex Rodrigues #1070848. Published by Alex Rodrigues (A0.1494245). The Last Rose of Summer is a work deeply rooted in Irish culture, originally penned as a poem by the renowned poet and composer Thomas Moore in 1805. Moore, regarded as Ireland’s national poet, was inspired by an 'Old Blush' rose while staying at Jenkinstown Castle in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The poem was published as part of his Irish Melodies collection between 1807 and 1834 and later set to music by fellow Irishman John Stevenson. The song gained widespread popularity and was incorporated into the opera Martha by the German composer Friedrich von Flotow, which premiered in 1847 in Vienna. This sheet music has been adapted for solo instrument, preserving the original melody by Moore and Stevenson in its essence. The simplicity of the arrangement allows the musician to highlight the purity of the melody, making it easier to perform while maintaining the piece's emotional character. This version is designed to be accessible for beginner to intermediate musicians, enabling an authentic interpretation that respects the traditional nuances of the work. The Last Rose of Summer captures the essence of melancholy and the passage of time—universal themes reflected in the farewell to the last vestige of a vibrant summer. The melody, paired with Moore’s poetry, evokes a profound sense of loss and longing, with the solitary rose serving as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of life and the seasons. The simplicity and beauty of this piece have made it a classic, perpetuating Irish tradition and touching the hearts of listeners worldwide.

Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1364537 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. 19th Century,Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. Score and part. 9 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #948829. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1364537). This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as ā€œThe Isle of Skyeā€) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland. Ā Ā The boat in the song (ā€œSpeed bonny boatā€) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 ā€œcarried the lad who was born to be kingā€ to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as ā€œBonnie Prince Charlie.ā€ The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Ā Ā In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers.Ā The Skye Boat Song has its roots in a traditional Gaelic melody. In this arrangement for flute and piano much of the piece is written in the low register.

Piano,Soprano Flute - Digital Download SKU: A0.1433845 By Traditional. By Traditional. Arranged by Joan Bujacich. Celtic,Folk,Irish,Pop,Traditional. Score and part. 10 pages. Joan Bujacich #1014054. Published by Joan Bujacich (A0.1433845). The piano and flute score is 7 pages in length, but Ms. Bujacich extracted the flute alone as well which is only 2 pages. This entire PDF then is 10 pages total with the cover. Clean, professionally notated. This arrangement by Joan Bujacich is in D Dorian mode. The flute plays the melody for the first two verses and then in the third verse it goes up an octave and the piano imitates some of the melodic lines, making for a nice dialogue between the two instruments. This medieval folk song uses  the melody later used by Simon & Garfunkel. It was first sung by Mark Anderson (1874–1953), a retired lead miner from Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, England to Ewan MacColl in 1947.Scarborough Fair, was popularized in the United States by the 1960s singer-songwriting duo Simon & Garfunkel. The  folk song is about a market fair that took place in the town of Scarborough in Yorkshire during medieval times. Like any fair, it attracted traders, entertainers and food vendors, along with other hangers-on. The fair peaked in the late 14th century but continued to operate until the end of the 1700s. Now, several fairs are held in remembrance of the original.Be sure to check out Ms. Bujacich's arrangement page. She has many other great arrangements for Flute and Piano and solo piano.
