Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588842 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Folk,Hanukkah,Jewish,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. David McKeown #6017085. Published by David McKeown (A0.588842). 7.40pm is a traditional Russian Jewish tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Violin. It isn’t completely clear where the title 7.40pm comes from. One interpretation is that 7.40pm was the time the Odessa tram conductors finished work and danced to this tune. But there are versions titled 7.40am which may refer to the time of Jewish early morning prayers. Whatever the origin, there are several Russian recordings of 7.40pm that predate the 1917 revolution.7.40pm is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a slow and expressively beginning, the melody switches to dance tempo.  7.40pm is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of a little over three minutes, this version of 7.40pm is perfect for recital and concert performances, both formal and informal. Mambo de Maya is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Violin. This duet is based on the fast, traditional Latin style of Mambo that emerged in Cuba in the 1930s. Later, when Mambo and its dance steps spread to Mexico and New York, hugely successful band leaders like Perez Prado and Tito Puente borrowed ideas from Big-Band Jazz and produced the bold and brassy sound we associate with Mambo today. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The steady Mambo bell rhythm is implied throughout, and following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the style. Melodies are clearly articulated and played with passion. Joropo de Justina is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Violin. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Joropo which is the national and traditional music of Venezuela. The music and its accompanying dance comes from the central plains area and is also found over the border in parts of Colombia. The basic pulse of the Joropo is 3, but this is overlaid with complex cross-rhythms. The main instrument is the harp, along with cuatro and maracas as the only percussion instrument. Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587514 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by David McKeown. 20th Century,Concert,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 7 pages. David McKeown #4354141. Published by David McKeown (A0.587514). Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. When Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, it became instantly popular and has remained a wedding favourite ever since. This full version is arranged as a duet for Flute and Violin and the performance time is around 6 minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and interchangeable. Repeats may also be ignored. Follow the links above to hear a short sample or watch a complete performance on youtube. The samples are from the clarinet version of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both parts enjoying melodic interest. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with detailed articulation and dynamics. Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588835 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Jazz,Latin,World. Score and parts. 7 pages. David McKeown #5776643. Published by David McKeown (A0.588835). Salsa de Shibby is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Violin. This duet is based on the style of Salsa. The name Salsa was first used in 1960s New York to describe the popular and commercial dance music made by Latin emigrĆ©s in the city. Most of the musical and structural ideas came straight from Cuban Son Montuno, but the lack of one single traditional root has allowed musicians from different Latin American countries to bring their own flavours to the music. Given the tensions between the US and Cuba, there have been accusations of cultural appropriation and Cubans dislike the word Salsa, but there is no denying the music’s worldwide appeal. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated, the melody should always flow, and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Salsa de Shibby has a performance time of just over two and a half minutes. You can listen to a full performance the Clarinet version of this duet by following the YouTube link above. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203
