BACH for flute and violin or two flutes. Written in 1748 when Bach was working at the court of Frederic the Great of Prussia. It was clearly intended to be played by Frederic - a very talented flute player with either Bach playing the violin part or Frederic's flute teacher, Quantz playing the second part on the flute. Between them Bach and Quantz wrote a great many sonatas, concertos and other chamber music for the flute for Frederic to perform.The Duetto is well within the ability of players of about grade 6 ABRSM and is also suitable for pairs of oboes or clarinets. The violin/ flute 2 part has been transposed for clarinet in Bb which makes it suitable for many duet combinations.

Stand by Me was originally released by the co-writer Ben E King in 1960 and is the sixth highest royalty earning song of all time.  However, King never intended to record the song himself. The story goes he had some studio time left over after a session and the producer asked him if he had any other songs they could put on tape. When King sat at the piano and performed Stand by Me, the producer recognised a huge hit in the making. This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Violin. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around three minutes.  Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing. There are some complex syncopated rhythms in the melody part and the challenge will be to tie these expressively to the repeating bass pattern which is present throughout.
