By David Cook. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. 2 scores. 5 pages. David McKeown #5303241. Published by David McKeown (A0.588103).
Eleanor Rigby first appeared on the Beatles’ 1966 album, Revolver. There has been much speculation over the identity of Eleanor Rigby, and a gravestone bearing that name has been discovered close to where Paul McCartney grew up in Liverpool. But Paul McCartney insists that he chose the natural-sounding name as a combination of a friend’s name and a shop he noticed in Bristol. Indeed, the original working title of the song was Miss Daisy Hawkins.
This version of Eleanor Rigby is arranged as a duet for two Clarinets.
Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.
Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing.
