Bublitschki is a Ukrainian/Jewish Folk song, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Bass Clarinet.

Bublitschki was written in 1922 by Yakov Jadow. The title means pretzels in Russian and was inspired by the pretzel sellers by the railway station in Odessa. Jadow observed that the street-vendors were poverty-stricken and wrote the song as a lament. Initially popular in the Soviet Union, a recording by the Barry Sisters in 1939 brought this song to an international audience.

Bublitschki is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is in two sections and is played twice with a short coda and constant variations in the accompaniment. Bublitschki is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of just over three minutes, this version of Bublitschki is perfect for concert performances, both formal and informal. The Elite Syncopations was one of many solo piano rags written by Scott Joplin in the wake of his success with Maple Leaf Rag. Published in 1903, The Elite Syncopations followed the classic four part structure that Joplin had developed with earlier compositions. In 1974 the Royal Ballet in London produced a ballet based on ragtime music using The Elite Syncopations as both the title and main theme. 

This arrangement of The Elite Syncopations is arranged as a duet for two Clarinets. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. Tangos often feature long, smooth, chromatic melody lines over a rhythmic accompaniment in a minor key. The melody and countermelody in SlitherTango wind around in a snakelike fashion. The rhythmic accompaniment is emphasized in the first half of the piece. It allows the melody and countermelody to take the focus in the second half, but it does not quite disappear, reminding us of the tango’s roots.
