His Take Five album of 1959 was a revelation of what jazz could be in a modern sense. Blue Rondo A La Turk was on that album and uses a rhythm Brubeck heard on the streets of Turkey: 9/8 time, but divided into 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3. I have given this an advanced rating due to the challenge of playing these rhythms tightly at a fast tempo. The score is provided for reference only since the page turns are impossible. The parts are arranged for 3 side by side pages.  Also, since this version takes after one done vocally by Al Jarreau there is a section where the 1st and 2nd clarinets are invited to sing!

This trio composed in 1801 for two violas and cello has been arranged for two clarinets in Bb & bassoon or cello. It has been undeservedly ignored because the original trio combination never really 'caught on'. The four movements, Allegro moderato, Andantino grazioso, Menuetto & Trio and Rondo a la Burlesca  provide advanced intermediate players and above with a gem of a concert piece.  The final movement is a homage to Mozart  (cf. Rondo a la Turka) and concludes with a lovely quote from the Magic Flute.

Arranged clarinet duet (clt/bass clt  with alt clt for bass clt)The French composer Marin Marais composed the tune as a dance for his opera Alcyone of 1706, with the title Marche pour les Matelots.The tune was subsequently included in Raoul Auger Feuillet's 1706 Recueil de contredansealong with a longways proper dance, La Matelotte, which Feuillet had himself written to go with the tune.In 1710 John Essex (d. 1744) published an English translation of Feuillet's work called, For the Further Improvement of Dancing, in which the dance is given as The Female Saylor.The words were written around 1860 while William Morris, then 26, was working as an apprentice in the office of the architect, Edmund Street, presumably under the persuasion of his fellow students who at that time had a taste for part-song. It became known as the Christmas Carol Masters in This Hall (alternative title: Nowell, Sing We Clear) Gustav Holst incorporated the carol into his work Three Carols (1916–17) along with Christmas Song: On this Day and I Saw Three Ships. Holst wrote the Three Carols for amateurs singing in his Thaxted festivals.I have arranged the March and 3 of the Sailor's Airs from the opera for clarinet duet, The march is then reprised to complete the arrangement.

The melody switches between the instruments to make the breathing easier. 5 On the Wallaby - Journeymen (young craftsmen) in Germany used to be required by law to go from town to town to practise their skills rather than stay in one town, which gave rise to many songs, of which Es es es und es is the best known - (the words of that song mean it is a hard conclusion but I have to leave this town). These journeys were referred to as Walz so these workers went auf der Walz. The idea of travelling auf der Walz was also taken up in Australia (where they called it on the Waltz or on the Wallaby) and it gave rise to the famous song Waltzing Matilda, although in the Ozzie song the traveller was a swagman rather than a craftsman.
