Each Duet has three movements - quick outer movements with a slow middle movement. The style is early Classical rather than late Baroque. Two equal players of intermediate standard and above will find these an enjoyable challenge.

This trio composed in 1801 for two violas and cello has been arranged for two clarinets in Bb & bassoon or cello. It has been undeservedly ignored because the original trio combination never really 'caught on'. The four movements, Allegro moderato, Andantino grazioso, Menuetto & Trio and Rondo a la Burlesca  provide advanced intermediate players and above with a gem of a concert piece.  The final movement is a homage to Mozart  (cf. Rondo a la Turka) and concludes with a lovely quote from the Magic Flute.

The opening Allegro is followed by Lamento in triple time with long flowing overlapping phrases providing innovative harmonies worthy of the eldest son of J. S. Bach. The final movement, Presto is a delightful 6-8 romp. Players of advanced intermediate standard and above will enjoy this.
