Ciribiribin, an Italian waltz style ballad. was composed by Alberto Pestalozza in 1898, with lyrics by Carlin Tiochet, and has been popular in Europe and North America ever since. The lyrics were originally written in the Piedmontese dialect of northwest Italy.  It has been recorded by such notables as Enrico Caruso, Mario Lanza, Grace Moore, Katherine Grayson, as well as the orchestras of Benny Goodman, Harry James, Glenn Miller. Ciribiribin has also been featured in many movies and television shows between (from at least) 1929 to the present day. Aren’t You Kind of Glad We Did? is an unused George Gershwin song recycled posthumously by brother Ira for the 1947 film The Shocking Miss Pilgrim (Dick Haymes and Betty Grable) – a story about the Women’s Suffrage movement of 1874, and equality in the workplace.  The film was a disappointment. This song didn’t get radio airplay (as recorded by Dick Haymes and Judy Garland) because censors inferred it had a too suggestive meaning.    This ‘trunk tune,’ however, found its way into the Great American Songbook.
