A duet for like instruments based loosely on the 12-bar blues form. Written to be performed in either a jazz or classical style, it can also be used as a springboard for improvisation. Can be played at any tempo, but if used as an etude, should be mastered at the fastest possible speed.

1. These duets will work best for woodwinds, however brass can play them as well. Just note that they may be a bit more difficult for the brass in certain areas.

Hotteterre was a famed French composer and flutist from the Baroque period. These duets are part of my Play With a Friend Series. You can use any combination of parts together (available for purchase separately) and the music will sound great! You may also simply play the duet as written on the page with two of the same instrument. Total performance time is over 12 minutes. These duets are perfect for sight reading and playing with students. Also appropriate for background music at weddings and receptions.

A transcription for all instruments (C, Bb, F, Eb, Bass Clef, Tenor Clef, Alto Clef, Tuba books are available and interchangeable) of a set of intermediate tuba etudes depicting various holidays throughout the year. These etudes received first prize in the Tuba Universal Brotherhood Association’s 1996 Composition Competition. The etudes are published in duet form in order for them to be used as either an etude book and/or a duet. The second part is designed to be playable by the teacher or a more advanced student. There is a piano accompaniment book designed to accompany either the etude or duet. The alto and tenor clef books can be used for practice in these clefs for bassoonists and trombonists. The mp3 sample contains April Fools as an etude, Kwanzaa as a duet, and Mother's Day as a solo with piano.

This arrangement provides the melody part in the key of A. Although there are three sharps, it is still easy enough for a beginner.
