Sammartini, an Italian composer, was known for his instrumental works, particularly for the flute, recorder, and oboe. He dedicated his 12 sonatas Op. 1 to Frederick, indicating his attachment to the family he worked for. The historical context of these sonatas is rooted in the Baroque period, during which the sonata form and chamber music flourished.Giovanni Battista Sammartini is considered a formative influence on the preclassical symphony and the development of the Classical style. His approach to symphonic composition was unique, drawing influence from the trio sonata and deviating from the Italian overture model. His symphonies were driven by rhythm and more precise forms, reflecting a mixture of Baroque and Preclassical forms and anticipating the direction of classical music, such as the Sturm und Drang style. He composed around 70 symphonies and is praised for his innovations in the development of the symphony, which have contributed to the development of the Classical style.

Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734331 Composed by Georges Bizet. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Christmas,Holiday,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred. 2 scores. 2 pages. Chicory Music #2926723. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734331). March of the Three Kings for Alto Saxophone Duet at the Intermediate level. The Crusades-those religious expeditions to rescue the holy places in Palestine from the Muslims, created an enormous interest in both faith and fighting in the Middle Ages. French peasants from Provence in the 13th century, when the tune for this March of the Kings was being sung and danced to, must have endowed the Three Kings of the Christmas story with all the virtues and appearance of their own folk heroes nearer at hand. These were the French dukes, clad in gleaming armor, carrying brilliant banners and bejeweled shields, who fought for the Pope far more willingly than they would have for the lives of their own serfs. Hence the martial references in this text, sung to a tune that is perhaps even older than the verses. Georges Bizet, composer of the opera Carmen, used the same tune as a farandole, or stately dance, in his incidental music for Alphonse Daudet’s play L’Arlesienne (The Woman from Aries). The March of the Three Kings has been arranged in the alto sax friendly key of g minor at the intermediate level. Performance time: approx. 2 minutes.
