Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081920 Composed by Giuseppe Sammartini (1695-1750). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 2 scores. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #686053. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1081920). Sammartini Op. 1 No. 2 Sonata. Score: 6 pages. Duration: 8:13 I. Andante II. Allegro III. Minuet/GraziosoGiuseppe Sammartini's Sonatas Op. 1 was composed in the early 18th century. Sammartini, an Italian composer, was known for his instrumental works, particularly for the flute, recorder, and oboe. He dedicated his 12 sonatas Op. 1 to Frederick, indicating his attachment to the family he worked for. Most of Sammartini's chamber music was regularly performed and republished during his lifetime, highlighting the significance of his works in the Baroque era. The historical context of these sonatas is rooted in the Baroque period, during which the sonata form and chamber music flourished.Giovanni Battista Sammartini is considered a formative influence on the preclassical symphony and the development of the Classical style. His approach to symphonic composition was unique, drawing influence from the trio sonata and deviating from the Italian overture model. His symphonies were driven by rhythm and more precise forms, reflecting a mixture of Baroque and Preclassical forms and anticipating the direction of classical music, such as the Sturm und Drang style. He composed around 70 symphonies and is praised for his innovations in the development of the symphony, which have contributed to the development of the Classical style.

Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588470 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. 2 scores. 7 pages. David McKeown #5755303. Published by David McKeown (A0.588470). Joropo de Justina is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Alto Saxophones. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Joropo which is the national and traditional music of Venezuela. The music and its accompanying dance comes from the central plains area and is also found over the border in parts of Colombia. The basic pulse of the Joropo is 3, but this is overlaid with complex cross-rhythms. The main instrument is the harp, along with cuatro and maracas as the only percussion instrument. In the modern era other instruments may join the ensemble, especially bass. This arrangement represents the song style of Joropo, with the vocal alternating with instrumental breaks. If you play to an advanced intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The many cross rhythms will provide a rhythmic challenge and there is little time to catch breath; following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Joropo de Justina has a performance time of around two minutes at full tempo. Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.785814 Composed by Grant Horsley. 20th Century,Instructional,Romantic Period,Wedding. 2 scores. 20 pages. Grant Horsley #6492163. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.785814). The Nightingale For Alto Sax Duet and Piano is in a gentle Barcarolle tempo in concert G minor and in ternary form. I wanted the lilting tempo in the outer sections to have a medieval minor tone, to work with the contrasting major section in the middle. I very much wanted it to be a sax duet rather than sax 1 and sax 2, so the parts are pretty equally divided. It is romantic in nature, but uses modes and has a few interesting harmonies. It is placed at early intermediate level, about associated board grade 4/5- The youtube link has the full score for you to assess suitability. A dotted quaver semiquaver is the most complicated rhythm. It would be very suitable for concerts, contests, recitals, weddings as well as an incidental piece. 5 minutes in length. Price is for score and parts (also Clarinet duet, flute duet, flute and clarinet duet, and violin duet available).

GigueThe Sonatine for Two Like Saxophones is dedicated to the memory of Germaine Tailleferreand is especially influenced by her Sonata for Solo Clarinet, a work in which she exploredatonal language. It may be played on any two saxophones of the same type (ie two sopranosaxophones in Bb, two baritone saxophones in Eb etc). The work is in three movements. The first, « Invention », uses a strict contrapunctaltreatment of a theme in fourths. The Second, « Arioso », is a slow lyric dance in ¾. TheThird movement, « Gigue », is based on a « hunting horn » motif which also exploits the useof 6/8 superimposed on ¾.
