Stand by Me was originally released by the co-writer Ben E King in 1960 and is the sixth highest royalty earning song of all time.  However, King never intended to record the song himself. The story goes he had some studio time left over after a session and the producer asked him if he had any other songs they could put on tape. When King sat at the piano and performed Stand by Me, the producer recognised a huge hit in the making. This version is arranged as a duet for two Trombones.

Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around three minutes.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing. There are some complex syncopated rhythms in the melody part and the challenge will be to tie these expressively to the repeating bass pattern which is present throughout. Hava Nagila is a Hebrew Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Trombones.

Hava Nagila was originally a Nigun melody thought to have originated in the Ukraine. In 1918 a professor and musicologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, set the tune to words adapted from Psalm 118. Hava Nagila was first performed at celebrations at the end of the Great War and quickly spread throughout the Jewish diaspora. In the fifties and sixties, performances by singers as diverse as Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan popularised the song far beyond its original Jewish audience. Hava Nagila remains one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards today, traditionally performed at Jewish celebrations.

Hava Nagila is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a steady beginning, the melody gradually increases in tempo, with constant variations in the accompaniment. Hava Nagila is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Hava Nagila is perfect for celebrations, weddings and concert performances, both formal and informal. Bublitschki is a Ukrainian/Jewish Folk song, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Trombones.

Bublitschki was written in 1922 by Yakov Jadow. The title means pretzels in Russian and was inspired by the pretzel sellers by the railway station in Odessa. Jadow observed that the street-vendors were poverty-stricken and wrote the song as a lament. Initially popular in the Soviet Union, a recording by the Barry Sisters in 1939 brought this song to an international audience.

Bublitschki is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is in two sections and is played twice with a short coda and constant variations in the accompaniment. Bublitschki is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of just over three minutes, this version of Bublitschki is perfect for concert performances, both formal and informal. How Far I’ll Go is one of the best loved songs from the 2016 Disney film Moana. This version is arranged as a Duet for two Trombones.

Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, two versions were recorded for the film, one by the lead actress AuliÊ»i Cravalho and the other by Alessia Cara. How Far I’ll Go won a Grammy in 2018 and has been consistently the most streamed song in the Disney canon since its release.
