Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792437 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ralph Sauer. 20th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 32 pages. Gordon Cherry #4821669. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792437). Beethoven’s two duos were originally written for Clarinet and Cello, but are often performed with Bassoon. They were published without an opus and were probably intended as gifts for friends or to be performed at a private chamber music soireé.  Mr. Sauer’s arrangements are delightful to play. Duos 1 & 2 have three movements; the first in the traditional Sonata form, the second a slow movement Larghetto and third movement a zippy Rondo. Duo 3 begins with a first movement Allegro and the second movement is an Aria with Variations, having a quick gigue-like Allegro tacked on to the end. These duos may be performed by Tenor and Bass Trombone or 2 Tenors, with the 2nd part needing an f-attachment to reach down for some D’s and C’s. The first parts are all in Tenor clef and these threee works are of moderate difficulty.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792465 Composed by Reinhold Moritzovich Gliere. Arranged by Ralph Sauer. 20th Century,Concert,Romantic Period. Score. 12 pages. Gordon Cherry #4988157. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792465). The Ten Duos for Cellos of Op. 53 are fertile ground for this new arrangement.   Ralph Sauer has chosen five of the pieces (12 minutes of music) that are suitable for two Trombones. Both parts have an equally wide range (high D to low C) with liberal use of the valve register. However, alternative octaves are provided  for those without an F-attachment. For advanced performers, the Duos present a technical challenge for both players, are musically rewarding and worthy of recital material.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1297340 Composed by Gioachino Rossini. Arranged by David Mathie. 19th Century,Classical. Score. 16 pages. Gordon Cherry #887420. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1297340). Here is what arranger David Mathie writes about the 5 Duos by Rossini.Gioachino Rossini was an Italian composer, born in 1792 and died in 1868. He was known primarily for his thirty-nine operas, although he did compose some chamber pieces and a few orchestral works. His 5 Duos for 2 Horns in E♭ were probably written in 1806 when Rossini was fourteen and living in Bologna, although they weren’t published until 1861. While it may seem unusual for a fourteen-year-old to be composing, by then Rossini had already written his String Sonatas at the age of twelve, and those works are still performed today. An explanation for why Rossini would write a set of duets for horn may be that his father was a professional trumpet player, and taught his son Gioachino to play the horn at a very young age. These five pieces were written for the natural (valveless) horns of the time, and like the horn writing of Mozart some very technical passages can be found in the lower part, especially in duets four and five. We can also hear the future opera composer’s arias in number three. The duos will work quite well on recitals and also for casual duet playing. Because trombonists can never have enough practice in clefs, I have transcribed the duets into three versions each using bass, tenor and alto clefs. The 5 Duos in 3 Clefs by Rossini arranged by David Mathie are perfect studies for any aged performer to begin learning Tenor and Alto Clefs. The duet format allows the teacher to play alongside the student, which is always so valuable for learning. They are of moderate difficulty making them well-suited for the Clef Novice to begin adding these necessary tools to their technique.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792221 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Sauer, Ralph. Baroque,Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 12 pages. Gordon Cherry #4728851. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792221). Originally thought to be composed for two Horns, the Twelve Duos K. 487 have been transcribed for two Trombones by Ralph Sauer, retired Principal Trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Mr. Sauer has set them into three sets of keys. 1-4 are in F, 5-8 are in G and 9-12 are in A, giving the performers a nice mix of keys.  This also makes three sets of Duos that can be used in recital if desired.  The Duos can be performed by moderately advanced players, the 1st part being in tenor clef.  The 2nd part can be played by a tenor or bass Trombone.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792392 Composed by Jacques Offenbach. Arranged by Sauer, Ralph. 20th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 56 pages. Gordon Cherry #4820299. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792392). The Six Duos Op. 50 for Trombones were originally written for two Cellos by Offenbach probably as teaching aids or for a light chamber music selection for an evening soireÌe. Being a Cellist himself, these works were most likely first played by Offenbach. The Six Duos contain over 50 minutes worth of music and are appropriate for intermediate to advanced performers. Both parts have f-attachment notes, but are not mandatory, as Mr. Sauer has written alternate ones.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081519 Composed by Friedrich Auguste Belcke. Arranged by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen. Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 9 pages. Gordon Cherry #685645. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1081519). Six Duos for Trombones, Op. 50 by Friedrich Belcke composed in 1832 may be one of the first sets of duets specifically written for Trombones. Belcke explains that the duos are all in the same key of B-flat and may be transposed into any key or clef, which adds a serious challenge for the performers beyond the initial intermediate level of the music. Check out the sample and test yourself....can you transpose up or down a half or full step at sight? Niels-Ole Bo Johansen has edited these six duos so both parts can be shared with one score.
