It is essentially a direct transcription and so it is captures the drive, tonal relationships and flow one might expect in a stringed, fretted instrument but through the medium of two oboes. It's ideal for a teacher-student duet, ensemble performance, or technical exploration.Guitarist Neal Fitzpatrick has a B.M. from the Hartt School where he studied with Alan Spriestersbach and his M.M. from The Yale School of Music where he studied with Benjamin Verdery. This version is faithful to the swinging rock’n’roll style of the original and includes a simple transcription of Boots Randolph’s famous sax solo. It is arranged as a duet for two Oboes. Musicians at an early intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal Christmas performances. There are some simple syncopated swing rhythms and a few accidentals accidentals. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.
