This is arranged as a duet for violin and viola and is timed at 3'40.  Great for a prelude, offertory, prenuptial music or when any sacred incidental music is required.  The arrangement has an intro and goes twice through verse and chorus with a brief interlude between and an ending tag.  The tempo is moderate and the eighth notes running constantly between the violin and viola keeps the piece moving along.  Both musicians share the melody!

This hymn, also known as Morning Song, is based on an old English tune and was first published in the US in Kentucky Harmony of 1816. Here it is arranged as a sprightly duet for violin and viola that is perfect for any church service as a prelude, call to worship or offeratory. With a slight change of tempo it would be suitable as prenuptial music. I arranged this tune along with another published duet, We'll Work 'til Jesus Comes, to be played the Sunday after Labor Day! Though it is modally minor, it is upbeat and joyful!

A fiddlely, folky arrangement of an old American hymn perfect for church services: prelude, offeratory, postlude, etc. Arranged as a duet for violin and viola, both instruments get to shine.  I wrote this piece along with another hymn, Awake, Awake to Love and Work (to be pubished), for myself and a violist colleague to play the Sunday after Labor Day.  We play together in church often and pieces like this are GREAT for recruiting new students! This piece received a GREAT compliment from a colleague who first heard it: I love the groove!.
