Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #6141253. Published by David McKeown (A0.590100). Steal Away to Jesus is an American nineteenth century spiritual. This version is arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello. The words and music of Steal Away to Jesus are credited to Wallis Willis, a Native American freedman from Oklahoma. A local minister transcribed the song and within a few years it became a firm gospel favourite. The words have a meaning beyond the spiritual, with hidden references to the Underground Railway of the time that helped escaped slaves cross to Canada. In more recent times Steal Away to Jesus was arranged by Michael Tippett in 1944 and recorded famously by Mahalia Jackson and Nat King Cole. Steal Away to Jesus is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The song is played several times as a ballad, with ever changing accompaniment. David McKeown #6020791. Published by David McKeown (A0.589296). Hava Nagila is a Hebrew Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello.Hava Nagila was originally a Nigun melody thought to have originated in the Ukraine. In 1918 a professor and musicologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, set the tune to words adapted from Psalm 118. Hava Nagila was first performed at celebrations at the end of the Great War and quickly spread throughout the Jewish diaspora. In the fifties and sixties, performances by singers as diverse as Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan popularised the song far beyond its original Jewish audience. Hava Nagila remains one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards today, traditionally performed at Jewish celebrations.Hava Nagila is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a steady beginning, the melody gradually increases in tempo, with constant variations in the accompaniment. Hava Nagila is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Hava Nagila is perfect for celebrations, weddings and concert performances, both formal and informal. Instrumental Duet Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.590714 Composed by David McKeown. Holiday,Latin,Love,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #6233625. Published by David McKeown (A0.590714). Amor, (Portuguese for Love), is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello, and is one of series of pieces celebrating Love in different languages around the world. This duet is based on the Brazilian style of Bossa Nova which evolved in Rio de Janeiro during the late 1950s. Bossa in its purest form is lyrical song accompanied by nylon-stringed guitar. The rhythm derives from Samba but is played at around half tempo. The harmony is often complex and influenced by jazz; indeed it was the collaboration between guitarist João Gilberto and American Saxophonist Stan Getz that led to the huge international popularity of Bossa Nova in the 1960s and beyond. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated, the melody should always flow, and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Amor has a performance time of around three minutes. Click the link above to listen to a full YouTube performance of the clarinet version of Amor. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Instrumental Duet Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.591326 Composed by David McKeown. Blues,Easter,Pop,R & B,Rock. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #6292053. Published by David McKeown (A0.591326). The Baby Sheep Shuffle is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Violin and one Cello. The Baby Sheep Shuffle is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. In the musical sense Shuffle is a combination of the jazz swing rhythm with a backbeat. Shuffle rhythms can be found in the Swing music of Glenn Miller right through Rock’n’Roll, R’n’B and to the modern day. The Shuffle connection allowed Swing dance styles like Lindy Hop and Jitterbug to be adapted for Rock’n’Roll music in the late 50s and beyond. The Baby Sheep Shuffle is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Baby Sheep Shuffle is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal.
