It came to Palestine in the same year, as an advertisement for Turkish cigarettes; the tune was printed on the package. ·        Hayu Leilot (There were nights) was written by Mordecai Zeira in 1938 to a poem by Yaakov Orland. Though this song is little known outside of Israel today, it is one of my favorites, and I hope will become one of yours as well. You are also welcome to try some of my other arrangements.
