Instrumental Duet Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.565638 By Sharon Wilson. By Peter C. Lutkin. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Children,Easter,Folk,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 9 pages. Sharon Wilson #5038361. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565638). The inspiring poem by Sidney Lanier titled Into the Woods My Master Went has been set to a variety of tunes. This string duet arrangement (for VIOLIN and CELLO) uses the hymn tune by Peter C. Lutkin. Set in a minor key, the solemn, reflective melody matches the deeply thought-provoking lyrics (see below). Though the lyrics may seem archaic at first, by reading through the words and meditating on the meaning, the beauty of the message becomes clear. This song is especially suited for a prelude or offertory during the season of Lent and Easter.Verse 1 Into the woods my Master went, Clean forspent, forspent, Into the woods my Master came, Forspent with love and shame. But the olives they were not blind to Him. The little grey leaves were kind to Him, The thorn tree had a mind to Him, When into the woods He came. Verse 2 Out of the woods my Master came And he was well content; Out of the woods my Master came, Content with death and shame. When death and shame would woo Him last, From under the trees they drew Him last, ’Twas on a tree they slew Him-last When out of the woods He came. Two unique verses are included interspersed with flowing and melodious interludes. The VIOLIN carries the melody for both verses. All notes for both the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. Being in a minor key, a few D#’s are scattered throughout the VIOLIN part which may require planning alternate fingering for smooth note transitioning. The purchase price includes a 4-page combined score with both parts on each page plus separate 1-staff scores for the VIOLIN and CELLO (2 pages each). This arrangement is one of the 10 songs in the collection titled Easy String Duets: Easter Hymns (A Collection of 10 Easy Violin and Cello Duets). His compositions set the standard for polyphonic music and are considered a high point in the history of music. He wrote a wide range of works, including masses, motets, and chansons, and was the first composer to set popular secular tunes as mass movements. His influence can be seen in the works of many later composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frideric Handel.Josquin des Prez was a prolific composer of chamber music and duets during the Renaissance period. He wrote several types of chamber music and duets, including madrigals, chansons, and motets. His compositions are characterized by their intricate counterpoint, as well as their harmonic richness and emotional expressiveness. His works often featured two voices in harmony, and he was known to use imitation and complex canonic techniques to create interesting musical textures. Josquin's chamber music and duets are renowned for their complexity and beauty, and they remain some of the most influential and admired works from the Renaissance period.Josquin Desprez is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the Renaissance period. His innovative use of counterpoint and canon helped to revolutionize the musical landscape of the time. Counterpoint is a technique of combining two or more independent melodies in a way that creates harmony and a cohesive musical texture. Josquin was a master of this technique, often combining multiple voices in complex contrapuntal textures. His use of canon, or round, was also highly influential. Canon involves two or more voices repeating the same melody in different registers and often with different rhythms. Josquin wrote canons in various styles and forms, including the popular ā€œcircular canonā€ and the more complex ā€œstrict canon.ā€ He was also an early adopter of the ā€œinverted canonā€ form, in which the same melody is repeated but in an inverted form. Josquin’s use of counterpoint and canon had a lasting impact on the development of Western music and helped to establish the foundation for many of the musical forms and techniques still used today.Contents:Ā I.
