Â· Hava Nagila (Let us rejoice) was written in 1917 in Jerusalem by Avraham Zvi Idelssohn, considered to be the father of Israeli music. Idelssohn's research into the music cultures of the different Jewish communities of Jerusalem laid the foundation for the growth of a unique melding of east and west that is the Israeli musical style.

Â· Hevenu Shalom Aleichem (We brought you peace) was first published in 1910 by the musicologist Franz Haverel, as a Turkish folk melody Sala'am Aleikum. It came to Palestine in the same year, as an advertisement for Turkish cigarettes; the tune was printed on the package.

Â· Hayu Leilot (There were nights) was written by Mordecai Zeira in 1938 to a poem by Yaakov Orland. Though this song is little known outside of Israel today, it is one of my favorites, and I hope will become one of yours as well.

Three popular Scottish folk songs, Skye Boat Song, Eriskay Love Lilt, Loch Lomond, arranged as a medley. Here is an easy instrumental duet arrangement (for VIOLIN and CELLO) of a lesser-known Christmas hymn titled O Sing a Song of Bethlehem. The familiar tune KINGSFOLD is the setting for this Christmas carol. Mellow and flowing throughout, this string duet arrangement will add variety and interest to worship services during the holiday season. For use throughout the year, this song is also associated with the lyrics I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say.

The VIOLIN leads with the melody for most of the song, but the CELLO takes a turn on the melody in the middle. An optional repeat is provided in case a longer musical selection is needed. All notes for both the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players.

The purchase price includes a 2-page combined score with both parts on each page (VIOLIN and CELLO) plus separate 1-staff scores for the VIOLIN and CELLO (1 page each).
