The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA). This version is arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello.The words and music of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot are credited to Wallis Willis, a Native American freedman from Oklahoma. A local minister transcribed the song in 1865 and within a few years it became a firm gospel favourite. In recent times Swing Low, Sweet Chariot has been adopted by the Civil Rights movement on one hand, and the England rugby team on the other. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot is simply arranged in keys and range best suited to the instruments. The hymn is played three and a half times, once as a ballad, then twice in a slow rock style, before returning to the ballad at the end. The Trumpet Tune and Air was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop.  Written around 1700, for many years this piece was attributed to Henry Purcell. But more recently many have questioned whether the composer was in fact Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. What is known is that the piece was written for a semi-opera called The Island Princess, and that both men contributed music to the production. In recent years this piece has become a popular wedding favourite. This full version is arranged as a duet for Violin and Cello and the performance time is around two and a half minutes.
